That's a shame honestly because everything I've watched on Apple TV+ has been pretty enjoyable. They might not have the quantity but they certainly have the quality.

I don't know how much of a stake Apple actually controls but they are mainly the distributor. Sony is the production company for the show.

I think most of us view the service as predatory. I own so many apple products that its flat out insulting to expect me to pay to see stuff. Seriously, they made another paid streaming service right when everyone is trying to save money??

I should be able to scan a QR code with my Apple iPhone and see the show for free. Monarch is the only show that I watch that airs on Apple TV that I know of.

Man Netflix is still a juggernaut. I remember seeing a stat one time where Netflix accounted for 35% of all internet traffic in North America. This was years ago but they are obviously still huge. Crazy.

They created some very decent original content. Its too bad they cant sustain it.

I mean a big chunk of the stuff I watch is reruns of shows from the 60s and stuff I grew up on in the 80s where it was all about the writing. I wouldnt mind more modern tv relying on a simpler premise. Sometimes we get it and its amazing, like True Detective season one, shows like The Wire. It doesnt have to be fancy special effects.

That doesn't exactly make them money though.

Issue I have is their catalogue isn't large enough to justify a subscription. There's absolutely some things I'd like to watch on their service, but I can watch practically all of it on a 7 day free trial.

Whoa, them raising the price by damn near half last year didn't work out!??!!! I'd have never guessed that.

You usually get a free trial for at least 3 months when you buy an Apple product. I've got a free trial on my iPad right now. Plus some retailers often give out up to 6 month free trials for nothing. I'm not sure if it's still there but Target was giving out 6 free months for Red Card Members. It's literally the easiest streamer to get for free (probably part of the problem since they spend so much on shows and most people don't actually have to ever pay to subscribe)

I agree. Im sure they make enough money off the ads and the devices that they sell to where they really dont need subscription fees.

That sucks! AppleTV+ is great.

Its like, Id be happy to just pay once to see the shows indefinitely, like on physical media or even digitally, but when platforms make that impossible because they want to charge you monthly, it grinds my gears.

I have Prime, Netflix, Max, Hulu, Disney+, and. AppleTV.

Apple is easily the weakest of them all.

Apple TV is good for Ted Lasso and Severance.

other than that, i dont see what else is worth it...

I mean not at all. They've got a couple dozen shows worth watching. Problem though is that's all they have. You need actual content to matter. Original content is important, but slow dripping everything and not giving people stuff to watch between is a major problem of theirs.

Netflix releases a dozen shows a week. Apple releases 1-2 episodes of new stuff a week. You can see why people choose Netflix.

While I dont have Apple TV+ all the time, I have never paid for it. Got it for free with an apple device purchase, then they extended it for some reason, then used free Best Buy and target codes and right now I have it because Apple themselves offered me 2 free months when I loaded a gift card to my account.

Their originals are almost all bangers, they have maybe the best quality:quantity ratio of any streamer out there

For All Mankind in particular is one of the best shows on any service

I'm glad that so many of these are failing. They're wildly expensive for companies to run and these shows could've just been sold to one of the handful of successful ones instead

On the other hand the reason so many of these shows exist at all is theyre all trying to have the next big hit

without all the streamers there would be way fewer shows, and way fewer risks taken with interesting concepts

you dont have to subscribe to them all at the same time

You could just unsubscribe from Netflix for a month and it would cover like 3 months of AppleTV.

Yup, there is literally no shortage of good shows to watch now because of this. There are just so many when you count all the platforms.

It'd be nice if package deals were more realistic. Or these god damn fucking price increases would stop.

I bought Peacock for ONE YEAR for 20 dollars for a promotion. When time came to renew I saw the yearly plan went up like 20$. I found another "good deal" which was basically me paying the OLD yearly price. Now I've gotten another email from them and yet again....when this years runs out I will have to pay more again.

The entire reason I was doing these yearly plans is because it was worth it. It'd like I personally control this shit.

For years I only went with Netflix and Prime. I was clueless that you could get huge trials of other platforms and yearly plans actually made them cheap. I thought everything was as expensive as Netflix with no yearly deals. AS SOON AS I FOUND THAT OUT. Everything in the world increases their prices tenfold.

Perhaps Apple TV would be doing better if the site's UI actually worked.

I Imagine they had massive cancellations after Ted Lasso ended and with people minimizing bills during COVID. I know I was one.

Im still using my Apple ID from when I signed up for iTunes on windows 20 years ago

anyway yeah when it launched it was annoying to get access to Apple TV+ but now its available on basically everything
