I am honestly FLOORED at the support Harris has received in the last week.
But this level of democratic support, in just these few weeks, isn't something I've seen in my lifetime. It's truly inspiring. I cant make that call until Harris has a named VP. While most people expect it being Shapiro or Kelly there could be someone else and even between these two I think there can be quite different results. I know CE went from doomer and topics about where people were moving to being almost overconfident and full of joy laughing about how the republicans are in shambles and paralyzed with fear but at the end of the day Im waiting to see real world results over general feelings on CE. I just dont easily gloss over how misogynistic and how racist America can be and the fact its a black woman Im just skeptical of the average American voter. Its easy to dismiss the right as the only ones who feel this way but I know too many from the left that have stupid opinions about women being able to lead. Ultimately I do think shes in a better position, but Im just not sure if its good enough to win. Again I want to see the VP pick. Shapiro bringing in PA would certainly be helpful. For debates sake if it was something like Buttigieg I think it would be disastrous and you wouldnt win in 2024 with black woman and gay man on a ticket. Again I dont think he has any real shot at being VP Im just showing VP certainly matters and until I see the pick its kind of a shoulder shrug for me. And ignoring all of this, the reality is most voters arent very informed and quite dumb. She can win a debate and humiliate Trump with facts at every turn and have the right policy and do everything right and alls it takes is one bad meme, one wrong outfit and a chunk of voters will be like I dont like her and if it happens in a key swing state it can be a disaster. I just have such little faith in the average citizen. I hope she crushes him though. It would shatter his ego losing to a woman. I honestly feel like Biden was done dirty. They should have decided a long tine ago if he were going to drop out. Looking at Obama's sentiments, it really shines a light on just how much Biden did for us. He was a great president who did deserve another term if he wanted it. He did a great job of tryibg to clean up the mess Trump left behind. If Biden were a lesser man, he could have done all kinds of things to Trump after they announced presidents have immunity. He never abused his power and always exercised restraint. And he decided to step down to give the democrats a better chance to win it than they seemed to have with him. He put the needs of his party and the American people before himself. In my eyes this man is a goddamn saint who we were lucky to have as our leader while we did. I still support Harris, and am onboard with the change overall. But I don't think the democrats should have announced their doubts about Biden in public. This should have been kept private. It only makes your house look weak when you appear divided. They always should have publicly supported Biden either way and stood behind him. Sure, he has cognitive decline. But so does Trump. He at least still had way more common sense and a heart that was in the right place. There were still people who were going to vote against Trump either way. I still think he could have won.
