I think they are better specifically because Biden endorsed Kamala, not just because he stepped down.

better considering the narrative around biden. it isnt a fair or accurate narrative around biden but no one can question harris' competency or age and it is advantageous against trump who is clearly not mentally well

Worse than they were a year or two ago, but better than a week ago because now maybe there is a chance for solidarity among the left, which will be needed to convince moderate swing state voters that the party has its shit together.

For the Presidency, much better. For Democrats as a whole, bout the same.

Not just because Biden stepped down, but because they're handling it better than I thought they could.

And Republicans are getting nervous.

I feel like at least on the surface level, it's better.

Harris being the nominee has kinda given the party a shot in the arm, and it has Republicans scrambling for talking points as to why Harris shouldn't be the nominee.

I think it was starting to look really fucking grim before he stepped down. He was leaking support badly and it looked like the Democrats were going to spend the entire remainder of the campaign on the defensive about his fitness for office.

Trump was riding high on surviving an assassination attempt and Biden was looking like a zombified deer in the headlights in debates.

I'm much more optimistic now. The issues with Biden that the Republicans were crowing about are largely irrelevant now, and their uncontained panic at Harris stepping up seems to highlight that they don't really know how to handle her.

When he first stepped down and in the lead up to Biden stepping down, I thought it would have overwhelmingly been a negative.

In the last few days, we've seen Kamala absolutely rocket with support (giving energy for the Democrat campaign for basically the first time) and the GOP completely fall apart because apparently they had absolutely nothing planned for dealing with Biden actually stepping down (even though the idea he was unfit for office was literally their whole platform).

I think chances of democratic victory are way better now than it was last week.

I admit I was a downer on Biden stepping down, but this turned out way better than expected.

Instead of slight hope and living on a prayer, I have some faith that victory will happen.

As it stands right now, better. Harris, on a surface level, is going to seem more competent by default than the Joe Biden weve seen of late. And the story of Biden stepping down caused a huge media stir that, along with the fact that the shooter turned out to just be some crazy dude without clear political motivations, completely erased the Trump assassination attempt from the national discourse.

Now if Harris flames out on the campaign trail then it might all be for nothing. But for the time being it was a pretty brilliant strategic move on Bidens part.

Biden had no chance of winning, literally anyone else would have been better.

Donald is now the obviously old and feeble man in the election whose cognisance is in steep decline. Add in the fact that the tough-on-crime side is running a convicted criminal while the other side is running a literal prosecutor... well the optics aren't great.

On paper, Biden should've been an ideal candidate:

Incumbent
Progressive enough to win leftists
Experienced
Accomplished

But his age is what made people hesitant. Even if he can account for all his faculties on paper via a cognitive test, his presentation at the debate broke many Americans forgiving perceptions.

So yes, democratic chances are better.

I don't think Trump was gaining support because Biden was that disliked. He gained support because people reasonably saw and thought that Biden had just gotten too old. Does that make them right? Who knows, but perception is reality for many and Biden being perceived as too old was the reality.

Much, much better. And on top of that, should they win, they'll be winning with a pretty decent candidate (especially by American standards) too, instead of someone who is only good when Trump is the standard he's being compared to.

I think it's really unfair that people judged Biden because of his age so the only option was a fascist. But sadly we don't live in a world where I get to make up people's minds.

People are showing excitement and enthusiasm to vote for Harris, and I don't know if that is an age thing, but it was def something missing from the Biden campaign.

Biden is an unsung hero who does not get nearly enough credit for how he turned this country around. But right now it looks like Harris is the better choice to beat the terrorist.

I thought it would have a minor boost at best, but with how quickly Kamala gained momentum and the very weak responses from conservatives, Im feeling a lot better at the chances of them winning the presidency than I was before/at the time of Biden dropping out.

Cant get complacent.though. Kamala needs to find ways to keep this momentum going until the end of this election cycle.

Dems look terrible for pushing Biden so long only to turn around and say Republicans were right about everything all along
Trump is shit scared of Biden and always has been
Racism and sexism are things sadly

But they were probably going to lose anyway after the asssassination attempt so Dems probably think this gives them an excuse for why they lost when Harris runs again in 2028

Except there legit might not be an election in 2028 when Trump wins.

Its the best that it will ever be at this point. If we can't win with this energy then -nothing- else we could've done would've mattered.

Repubs are scrambling, money's flowing in for Kamala, polls are in her favor.

I was all sorts of wrong and I'm glad for it. My only concern is whether some states will try to claim that votes for her are invalid and make that a whole thing.
