INTRO

Welcome to my series of topics! A while ago I did a JAKAS Presents with Genesis games. Now I'm asking the question of if a movie is "Good" or "Bad". Feel free to caveat in the topic, since there are definitely movies that are objectively terrible that someone can like. Also, I'm gonna go alphabetically so if you have a movie you want tossed in here, go for it.

NOTE : It is unlikely I will put in universally beloved films since I mean, the jury is kinda already out on that. No reason to really ask if Jurassic Park is a good or bad movie. I might break this now and then with my own personal favorites or universally beloved movies that I personally don't like since you know, it's my series of topics.

FILM DISCUSSION **SPOILERS**

Yes yes yes, Frozen is one of the most successful films of all times. JAKAS you fool, what are you talking about? Of course Frozen must be a good movie then... right? I argue that while it is a successful film, I don't think of it as a good movie honestly. You can sorta tell the film was in developmental hell for DECADES (which is true) since it is based off The Snow Queen, which would have had Elsa being a villain. Disney basically argued internally for years about whether or not they could do something like that, and you can tell that in the final project.

There is a reason the villain twist comes out of nowhere and that is because IT DOES! The film does nothing to earn Hans being a villain. I'm sorry, it is a cheat to the narrative that even in moments where you could show him having ANY LICK of a negative bone in his body, you chose not to. The writers admitted as much saying that they had to make it a big surprise and if you gave the audience any sort of inclination it "wouldn't have worked". It didn't work BECAUSE you gave us no inclination! You didn't have the temerity to have Elsa be the villain who was "defeated" by the power of familial love (which would have led to the same payoff), you purposefully pull a twist out of literal thin air, and thus you kinda muck with Anna's story line to make that happen. =/

It has great music, it was wildly successful, but I don't like it and I don't think it's good. I'd MUCH rather watch nearly all the other 2010's Disney films.

One oft he best movies.

It's pretty good for the first half or so, the first few songs are great. Dips a lot once Olaf shows up

Not bad, not great.

It's a good movie, just have to ignore all the bajillion covers of Let It Go. Now if we're talking about the second movie, then yeah that one was a mess.

Honestly the only negative of the movie is the rock goblins and their dumbass butt song.

Despite the fact that I have made a billion AI Elsa pics for the Elsa pic topic, I've not seen a single second of the movie(s).

And Olaf.

Olaf was bad.

Olaf is whatever. I don't like him, but I don't hate he's there. The rock goblins are so bad they're the equivalence of the gargoyles in Hunchback. But while they managed to ruin Hunchback, Frozen somehow came out mostly unscathed.

Olaf is meh at best

Olaf just feels a little out of place. Again it's disjointed. The overarching feel of the film is very kinda dark and mature themes for a kids movie, but then they really inject some kiddy stuff into it to lighten the mood.

Out of control terrifying magic?! Oh but it creates mascot character.

My sister was kinda shunned and locked away for her uncontrollable powers that can hurt people? But... do you wanna build a snowman?!

It's disjointed the same way Brave is, but isn't called out for it nearly as much cause the music is really good. That's my take anyways. XD

Let It Go might be overplayed, but in the context of the movie, the amount of character motivation and growth presented during that 3 minute song is incredible.

Ive seen it through whole two times. While I liked it and even put it in the good category Im kind of surprised at how well it did, how popular it really is and then it was worthy enough to get a couple of sequels.

To me it doesnt hold a candle to the classic Disney animation movies from 30s through 50s and I put it firmly behind even stuff that hit right around when I was in high school like Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Lion King.

To me even another movie from its own era that employs the same animation style like Tangled I honestly think is better. Another movie I liked a lot better just a few years later was Moana. So ultimately Ill say good movie but in the grand scheme of things not a timeless classic I can watch over and over and not one I care enough to buy a blu-ray and put in my collection. Though Im sure many young kids who love it feel differently and I recognize that.

Anna and Elsa are cool but movie is bad. The idiot trolls are the worst and really caused the whole shitty problem by telling the parents to LOCK ELSA IN HER ROOM BY HERSELF FOR YEARS. And the parents suck too for going along with such an idiotic idea. Instead of saying "Hey elsa that shit's not for play, be really careful"

Bad movie because it gave us the overplayed monstrosity that is Let it Go. That was by far the most overplayed Disney song ever and I hate it lol.

Don't worry, I didn't vote. It would be petty of me to give it a bad vote just because of that one song.
