Season 1 was so good. What happened? What changed?

The only real complaint I've heard is Daemon's stuff, then again I only talk about it on here and a few people irl. As for me, I've enjoyed season 2 including Daemon's wacky Harrenhal adventure. I didn't watch the first season as it aired, but I have been surprised by the lack of interest on this board about it this season. The weekly show topic usually only gets like 20 posts.

First episode of this season bored me and I haven't checked on any of it since. Basically I'm done with the franchise.

I havent watched it yet. Is it graphic like GoT?

Watched the 1st episode then just decided I'll binge it all when the season is done.

Peeps around me seem to like it. I'm not a big fan of the show but I like the second season way more than the first--seems much more cohesive without all the time jumps

I'm liking it so far. They're doing a lot more with dragons, and they're my favorite part of the Game of Thrones universe.

season 2 is great def in the minority on it being not great

The only thing I'm not feeling this season is Daemon's Harrenhal arc but I haven't seen last sunday's episode just yet.

Him moping around and not doing anything got old after the third episode.

I'm enjoying the rest of the show still tho but it is definitely slower then the first season. I'm assuming things will kick back up next season. *fingers crossed*

And the dragon stuff is amazing. This is my favorite portrayal of dragons. I still like D&D's talking, shape shifting, manipulating type of dragons but to me dragons are what has been portrayed in the GoT universe, and something like Reign of Fire.

Yeah even if you prefer the first season to this one, it's hard to claim that it "fell off".

That said two women kissed a couple of episodes and chuds came out to rage so that might contribute to some of the negativity people have seen.

I am really enjoying this season. I think it is pretty great, maybe not as good as season 1 but still very good. I like Daemon's arc, but I can understand why some may not. For me a lot of it is exploring more of the world and the mysticism which the original series kind of glossed over. As a long time fan of the books I think it helps me appreciate it.

I can't agree with the handling of Daemon being good. He went from being active to barely doing anything.

The main place I read about people's reactions is r/freefolk and they, uh, don't have good things to say. >_> It's not a place where people complain about "woke" all the time so I figured the dislike was more genuine.

I dont think its as good as season 1, but this isnt GOT going from season 4 to 5, 6, 7. I guess it doesnt have as much political intrigue and the witty lines from season 1 and its mostly preparation for a war. Season 1 was also carried by Visey's actor and Daemon doing badass things, which hes been doing the exact opposite.

I've seen dicks twice both in the same scene and titties multiple times in multiple scenes throughout both S1 and S2. Not sure what you're talking about.

too bad you gave up before giving it a chance. The daemon stuff kind of sucks but everything else has been great.

The only people Ive talked to about the show, and hasnt liked this season has been chuds who cant get over two women kissing.

I miss the days when people saw two women kiss and thought "nice" instead "oh no the woke mind virus!"

r/Freefolk is a hate circlejerk sub. Like GoT's later seasons had a lot of problems, but that sub saw the upvotes from criticizing it and just kept getting more and more aggressively petty with their complaints until it warped the entire sub's culture. They were just waiting for HotD to show any weakness so they could pop their rage boners again.

That and they are strong book purist. Except the book in question this time doesn't actually provide a lot of narrative or characterization so they are lashing out at differences not from the source material but from how they perceived the source material. Fueling even more rage.

There is plenty of nudity in HotD. I am not kidding about this. Anytime they were at the White Worm or the brothel nudity, and more women then men. Daemon/Mysaria. Whatever building Daemon and Rhaenyra was pretty much all nudity, this season they've been to a brothel in a couple episodes, major nudity. You'll still get your fix.

Pretty much the only nudity you aren't getting are main characters.

I wouldn't take a hyper nerd subreddit as an indication of quality. They would probably shit all over the earlier seasons of Thrones as well cause it isn't EXACTLY like the book.

That said, I actually haven't seen the finale of S1 or any of S2 (don't got HBO Max and my friend moved away that we would go watch new episodes for) but I enjoyed S1. It wasn't peak thrones, but it wasn't garbage thrones either. I think the time jumps made things more confusing than they should have though.

S1 had Viserys and S2 had a boring Daemon arc. Those are the main reasons that S1 is better. Both seasons have dumb moments when they decide to add flair, like Vhagar being a ninja dragon. They do have some cool fill ins of gaps from the book, like last episode when you find out who Hughs mother is. I wonder if that came from GRRM. The majority of the changes havent been good.

Im not necessarily disappointed. Most people might have expected the show to get better when the war started, but in the book I enjoyed the set up just as much as the Dance. I actually had some issues with the Dance.

It just gets really messy, and by the time its over almost all of the best characters have died. A lot like ASoIaF. Just a preference really.

I haven't seen it yet, but all my friends only had positive things to say about Season 2. There are some story arc here or there they complain about, but overall the reception is very good. I can't say the same for Season 4 of The Boys for instance.

I wouldnt say its dropped off at all. Been pretty consistent imo. I do miss young rhaenara actress tho.

I've loved the Greens story arc so far. It feels every bit as good as early Game of Thrones. Daemon's has been repetitive and meandering, but it has a few good standout characters. The Blacks have been really boring up until the most recent episode.

freefolk is probably the worst A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Throne subreddit there is. The main show reddit is a lot better in relation to discussion of the show.

As I said I like Daemon's arc, mostly just because it is exploring Harranhal and Alys Rivers character. They probably wanted to give him more to do also this season, it is mostly supposed to be character building and world building, but I can understand why some don't like it.

Yooo that last episode was fire, in some cases literally.

Hugh was great, Daemons arc was finally somewhat interesting (though I have enjoyed everything with the owl trapped in a womans body, Alys Rivers

Im a bit sad that we only have one more episode this season, but I cant wait to see how this season ends!

Its been really good quality, but I would say that theyve dragged out the story arcs a little too long they shouldve maybe half a season not an entire season

Season 2 is great other than Daemon fucking around in Herrenhal tripping on shrooms 10 minutes per episode.

I feel that some of the problems are that there is still no real " Good guys" to root for so many are turned off with everyone being a jerk.

On top of that with less nudity that's not a draw either and on top of that the pace seems a lot slower to.

Its...just with how long it took for the second season its not having enough to be worth it for most.

its true there are no good guys but that is kinda the theme of the whole universe anyway. the show has definitely made the blacks more likeable than the greens imo although no one is really good and only a couple of people are outright evil
