It can be anything from uber eats to amazon to even the bank app. I really loathe needing to download an app and feed it all my information and get all that slowdown or even ads in some cases.

Not sure how old fogey this is gonna come across. But I prefer using the websites, even the mobile site is more manageable than some apps.

I get that everything and everyone deals with stuff on their phone now though

Phone apps suck mainly because of the relentless advertising

At least with browser you can use adblock

Yes, I hate most of them with the heat of 1000 suns.

Doubly hate them when the website makes their site unusable on mobile in order to force you into their app

I dont use any apps. I dont have a phone but I have a tablet for minor internet usage but anything I access I just use the standard website. Something like Amazon or Etsy Ill always use the website.

From what little Ive seen apps are almost always a step down and I prefer the look/layout of the site through the browser.

It definitely depends on the app, but I generally prefer apps. They normally make it simpler to do a specific desired thing than a browser does.

Oh hell yes. Those apps drain the shit out of your battery by using the phone's GPS, too.

Protip: turn location tracking off for everything but your phone app, if possible. I'm getting ~ 3 days off a charge now.

Yes, for every service. No, I am not downloading your app.

For delivery stuff like Amazon and Uber, I like the apps. For websites, like Reddit, Youtube, Twitter, etc. I refuse to use their apps and stick with their website.

Amazon is trustworthy enough (or at least large enough) so I don't mind putting in my credit card information, but to be honest I loathe putting in my credit card info and address in other apps that ask for them. But also don't wanna use cash since I want those cashback points on my card

I always turn off all permissions for apps. Especially some where I'm like "you absolutely do not need access to my camera nor my location, the fuck is the matter with you"

Phone apps are almost always a scam.

As others have said, what really bothers me is companies insisting on pushing their apps if you want to get benefits that you previously had especially if you were a member. They're like "sorry we can't give you those reward points unless you set up an account on the app"

I loathe it. Previously it was enough to have like a rewards card or membership card that they scan but now they're like nope has to scan in app. blargh

Never liked using phones for komputer/video game/kamera stuff. Phones are for kalls, kalculators, QR readers, and maps. For just about everything else, I'd rather just have a different device with me entirely.

I like my bank app and the Wikipedia app, and the AMZ app is not terrible. I try to avoid all other "web site wrapper" apps. I only keep airline apps installed when I'm travelling.

What pisses me off is when they've clearly designed the website to be a shittier version than the "app".

I will never at any point in life probably come to feel using my phone is more convenient than my mouser and keyboard.

Lol what's funny is I broke down and got the wikipedia app because it had a dark mode, and then just a few weeks later wikipedia rolls out dark mode on the site itself! I was like man why did they wait until after I downloaded the app to do that.

My favorite is when the mobile website just won't even work at all because it wants you to spend like 2 GB of storage to open a 4 KB webpage. I always just click the little checkbox for requesting the desktop site, and then it works fine.

I know right, Mouse and keyboard is just more effective.

Late 2000s and even early 2010s were probably the peak of website design. Everything was just so intuitive and easily laid out for our convenience. It's crazy how that design philosophy has changed.

Compared to today, maybe. But it was garbage then, too. Video games are to date the only software on the planet that has figured out UX.
