They aren't gullible. They want Trump to win.

Last night Walz took the high road and thanked Vance for his service.

He carried a weapon of war, that's what you do as a national guard sometimes. He was deployed in Italy after 9/11 as a security measure. I'm sure he also carried a weapon of war there as well. He did not say he ever fired it during a war, Vance got that part wrong.

He retired honorably almost a full year before his group was deployed in Iraq. He did not "abandon his soldiers", that's baloney.

It's not hard to debunk this stolen valor claim! I don't see this lasting very long.

You can't just say "I retire!" and quit the military on short notice. You gotta submit paperwork which takes months to process.

The fact that his retirement happened before a deployment was just lucky timing, it wasn't planned. But all the keyboard warriors who love veterans but never even served will continue to call him a coward. Those people weren't voting for Kamala anyway.

And word on the street is that he was retired a whole year before his unit went. It's possible that the unit at large didn't even know they were deploying at that time. He, being the CSM, probably heard a possibility of it happening or knew it was slated but its almost a guarantee that he had submitted his retirement paperwork before he had any real confirmation.

Now you could make an argument that he "should have" fought to stay in and go, but if he wore the position for any real length of time, he probably wouldn't have been their CSM by the deployment anyways. I know NG works different than Active Duty Army with how they handle positions, so I might be just slightly off base with that assessment, but in the Active Army he would almost be guaranteed to have been replaced by a CSM that would be new to the unit.

I will clarify a bit, not to defend them, but you can know you're going on deployment long before you ever see actual orders (at least on a personal/personnel level).

He sent in the papers to run for congress two months before anyone knew they would be deployed. It's fucking abysmal how weak this attack is.

Yep the moment Vance attacked Walz military service I knew this was a repeat of the Kerry slander. Though Walz isn't the type of person who will ignore it. He will go on Fox News and set the record straight if he has to.
