would an air purifier or air humidifer work for me? i need the box fan on to help sleep and cancel out noise

is this an issue either could fix?

dealers choice imo.

i'd like to know also. otherwise my go-to solution was going to be to just get rid of my nose entirely. that should solve it.

do you have proof the fan is the problem? It could just be the air in your home or bedroom. Or, like me, you just get congested at night.

Depending on your location and time of year would determine if you need a humidifier or dehumidifier. Like I'm in the US in the Midwest and extra humidity is only needed in the winter when the air is really dry. That is when you get static shocks and stuff like that from some surfaces.

In the summer with humidity is when you would use a dehumidifier to remove excessive moisture from the air.

But a dehumidifier helps with the allergen aspects of some things that can make you wake up congested yes. Just like in dry air a humidifier can help relieve congestion from certain things.

Make sure you are using the right machine for the time of year and location you are. Don't just start using a humidifier in the summer in a humid location.

how far away is the fan?

I had this problem in the past when the fan was pointing at me, but if it's close and pointing the other way it will also be creating air flow that could dry your sinuses out

When is the last time you did a deep clean on your bedroom? Washing bed sheets and pillow cases, replaced pillow, dusted walls and windows, washed/cleaned curtains/blinds?

I had the same issue years ago and couldnt figure it out. Then my wife was like whens the last time you washed those curtains? Umnever? So I washed the curtains and that immediately fixed my issue. All the dust on the curtains was aggravating my allergies.

this is a good point too. it could literally just be dust.

try cleaning your fan too

Yeah I get that as well when I leave my fan on high and pointed directly at me

WHEN I SAY THROUHGOULY CLEANED I MEAN EVERY WEEK SHEETS WASHED SOMETIMS 5 DFAYS JUST DO IT and curtains vacuumed. its ocd central here

Have you ever thought about getting a sleep study done? It did wonders for me, taught me a lot about the importance of sleep.

gotta be careful about those. i am on the hook for 250$ because my insurance wasn't accepted or they didn't put down my insurance information.

gotta call em on monday to sort it out.

i'm about 90% sure i don't have sleep apnea, they're still trying to get me to take another test. financially painful.

I used to always wake up congested and eventually invested in an air purifier. Completely solved my problem. My room just generates too much dust and allergens, even if I clean it regularly.

Well, at least it didn't cost you 3 grand like it did me... for the machine I mean. I got about 2 grand back from my insurance but personal health even up here in Canada is still a bitch because although health care is considered free, antibiotics and health goods are pricy.

Before you consider the humidifier route you can buy an indoor thermometer that also measures the humidity in the air. If the humidity is really low then yes, it might help. If the humidity is already 30%+ then the lack of air moisture is unlikely to be the problem. You can buy something like this: https://buythermopro.com/product/tp357/

living off a limited income and needing to balance where all the dollars are going (which i'm good at) cannot afford additional expenses.

i'll just take me pre-diabetes diagnosis and weight loss needs. both can be worked on to reverse it hopefully.

Humidifier should fix that in the winter, but needing one during the summer is rare.

Don't sleep with a fan. I used to have the same issues when I was younger.

I don't know why, but i assume it's just blowing germs into your face or mouth and it gets you sick.

The reason it happens, if I may, is because its blowing dry air directly into your mouth and nose when you sleep. So when you snore, which happens to all of us btw, the saliva that should be circulating in your mouth is either being pushed to the back of your throat, or off to the side as drool, leaving your mouth dry as the Sahara.

I say this as someone who is conditioned in having a fan on at all times of the year, even when its winter, which where I'm from is going to be 5-6 months out of the year.
