Yeah, Tentalus was a bizarre design, but the devs clearly put a lot of love into Skyward Sword. The two Lanaryu dungeons in particular are basically unmatched in terms of puzzle design next to the likes of Stone Tower Temple.

It was just a rehash of everything that came before. I actually really enjoyed the bosses though.

Never played it, but that Tentalus thing looks like an octopus bred with a Minion.

I haven't played it, but I do hate that half cel shaded look they give it. Makes everything look terrible.

I never played it, but I watched my cousin play the beginning around the time it first came out. She walked around Skyloft and we marveled at how ugly all the characters were. Eventually we found one random NPC that we both thought just looked normal and we just stared at her in amazement.

Years later I find out lots of people think SS Zelda is the best looking and I'm just like. Bro. Those bangs.

I think the first (establishes the mechanic) and last (switches things up in the end) fights are fine, but the second fight is just the first fight but more, yeah.

It's called an art style. SS is gorgeous and full of color, it's easily one of the prettiest games in the series.

its my favorite zelda by far the best story in any zelda game

and it has your items remain useful for the entire game

and just in general i enjoyed it

I liked Skyward Sword in general, but The Imprisoned is the sole reason I've never replayed it. Such a terrible fight(s).

Yeah that's because it was. Imagine finally having all this time to develop a Zelda game, for one console, no distractions or need to split between multiplatforms, and they opted to focus an inordinate amount of time on designing the controls around motion plus, a peripheral that doesn't even come with the Wii; a peripheral that you had to buy in addition to the actual game. So 13 years ago, even if you had the console and the game, you still couldn't play it. Fucking ridiculous.

They truly reached the zenith of boredom and emptiness and tediousness with the skyworld. Like good god. Then of course there's the "repeating a tedious boss fight" thing like 3 times if not more.

And yet despite all that, it's still interesting to see the ideas in there that would later morph to become breath of the wild, one of the greatest games of all time. Something as simple as a stamina wheel being a core concept in botw is kinda impressive.

Okay yeah, that had some really wild designs, too. But aside from the horrible baby, they didn't stick out to me like SS characters did. And at least Link and Zelda looked good.

Nah, Wind Waker was colorful and stylized and beautiful. What I saw of SS doesn't do it for me. But again, I haven't experienced most of it firsthand.

Also it's funny, I remember when it was first announced a lot of people were going "ew it looks like a mix of windwaker and twilight princess!"

And then that art style stuck and we've basically had it for the console games ever since. I don't mind it, it's nice. I think twilight princess and all of its yellowiness is the only game in the series that I went "this is ugly"

It's also like the first zelda game where they actually establish them as basically a couple, and zelda being very sweet and loving. So many good ideas and potential to explore further... what a waste.

I wouldnt say that but it was genuinely not fun

The motion controls are brutal and unplayable. And I actually enjoyed the game back when it was released.

Thats because it was a horrible game. Then they responded to that negative feedback by switching to a soulless open world format ala Breath of the Wild.
