Female baseball players basically end their career at college graduation. As college sports is as far as women's baseball goes currently. If there is a wnba, I feel like wmlb should exist too. It's another sport that women can excell at

Probably because MLB doesn't want to subsidize it for 25+ years hoping for it to finally reach a point where it can stand on its own.

There are professional women's softball leagues.

Women's baseball doesn't exist in any organized form

Women cannot apply for college baseball scholarships because they can't play in high school. They also don't have a pathway to play professionally. Some people are trying to break down the barriers that exist for women in baseball. From 1994 to 1997, the Colorado Silver Bullets were an all-women baseball team.

I dont know if it needs too. I feel like womens softball is cool enough. Its pretty much the same outside of the pitch and ball right?

I feel like women have different rotator cuffs or something and thats why they do the fast pitch soft ball. Which is a really cool motion imo.

WWII had a women's baseball league as the men were out at war. Uniforms were kinda cute, tbh. Unfortunately, when the men came back, the league just was bleeding money as interest went away, so it fizzled out hardcore.

When it comes to most women's sports, money is really the issue. It's a shame because softball actually has quite a few things in place that help the women level the playing field to make it fun to watch. They don't run as fast, but the distance to the plates is shorter. They don't pitch as hard, but the distance between pitcher and hitter is shorter. Same with the field size as a whole being smaller to allow homers and such/and make up for general fielding discrepancy. I actually find college softball a lot more fun to watch than college baseball.

I would 100% support a professional women's major league baseball, as long as they put in some of those same restrictions as it would really make the "differences" not feel all that much.

Ah so its just logistics

yeah as far as i know, women are allowed to play professionally if they can make the team, but there hasn't really been any one player that has done that to a major league level. there are stories of women, mainly pitchers, turning heads especially at a younger age, but it's still not a common sight.

also it doesn't seem like there are enough women baseball players to actually have a whole major league with several teams in different cities.

i think it's possible if we invest time into teaching women to play baseball and not softball, and then have enough to actually warrant a league. but right now it doesn't seem so.

Women are allowed to play in the MLB, and people love to use this fact to say "There's just no women in the MLB because there are none good enough to play professionally"

However, there are pretty much no high school or college women's baseball teams, they're funneled into softball, so they never really get the chance to develop their skills

Money.

That's the reason many leagues don't exist. If it made money it'd be a league.

Still shocked the nba players have continued to support the wnba for so long

Also yeah that was kinda wild that apparently "Women physically can't play baseball" is something people actually believe

Most bat-and-ball-inclined women are going to go into softball, and softball skills are not very transferrable to baseball. No interest, no players.

Eh, not really. The size of the diamond seems like a small distinction, but it actually changes a lot about how the game is played.

Did I make this up? Or is it something youve heard elsewhere?

I dont know if it even makes sense because the spinning arm might be just as damaging?

I think I also had in my head that men cant do the softball fast pitch as fast as women because you need wider hips to do it.
