Thats the thing. Mid 30s+ typically see verb gaming meaning exactly this right or wrong. Theyre turned off by the word.

Soooo many women have shared their relief with me that by gaming I actually meant I play DKC2 and Shenmue once a week when theyre asleep.

Unless you're joking, that's an eye opener. My parents wouldn't even want to touch video games in general.

It's no joke. It did take some work on me and my siblings end, though. Long story short, she discovered how therapeutic it could be in relaxing and venting out frustrations.

I feel like that's less about age and more about the type of hobbies those women are already into. Like when I was on dating apps 2 years ago, the women I was dating were in the 30-43 age range and all of them either played games themselves or weren't bothered by guys that played games.

But I was only matching with women that had nerdy hobbies themselves. So that there was at least some overlap in our interests. It's the non-nerds that look down on the nerdy hobbies

Both? We don't even have to like the same games. My girlfriend hates any kind of pvp, I'm a fighting game fan, but we still talk about games, games aspects, design philosophy, etc all the time.

I will play while they are awake and they are doing their thing (reading, watching something, etc.). Well, now with my wife she is a gamer too, but that doesn't matter to the discussion. Just that I AM lucky.

Anyway, it shouldn't have to be as extreme as you are stating. It just think that there has to be balance, and that is true with anything. Gaming shouldn't be treated as different, but we also know that there are guys who only game as a hobby (and maybe some anime or something too), so that is probably why it gets singled out.
