Most of us on GameFAQs are at an age where we were the original Pokemon kids. Not to mention it was a massive pop cultural phenomenon, that then found a bizarrely wide range with Pokmon Go

Even my 72 year old mom who knows nothing about pop culture can identify Pikachu. Although, she calls every animated character "a pikachu". So hmm, I don't know.

i can name all of them through gen 2, and the popular gen 3 ones... but after that? i have no idea, cus i only really played gen 1 and 2 (also FR and HG). for gen 3, i played emerald but got stuck on some island and stopped.

This. We started with many of our parents and how they called it "Pokemans". Same parents who considered every game system "Nintendo".

The only Pokmon I have heard about is Pikachu.

I have never had any interest in it and only know that it is a Japanese cartoon and franchise that makes it games only for Nintendo.
