Was that the one who cheered awkwardly, like a BLGHYEAH! If so, I have heard it mentioned before in examples of how much people used to care about the smallest details then, and how tolerant we are of the craziest things now.

Dean's campaign was already sunk regardless of the scream. He had just bombed in the Iowa caucus and his campaign was a disaster internally.

Yeah, the real embarrassment from that speech shouldn't have been the scream, but Dean trying to convince everyone that coming third in Iowa was actually a great result.

That is correct. Another good, though not-at-all-humorous example is the universal condemnation of Pat Buchanan in the 2000 election, even though outside of his Christian nationalism, his platform was very similar to Trump's in 2016 (to be fair, he ran on the Independent ticket, so the Republicans had additional motivation to condemn him)

It wasn't the volume so much as the pitch and overall sound, after an overly excited statement that made it sound like he was WWE politicking (seriously, I saw plenty of people at the time comparing it to that and then saying that the Dean Scream was too timid/silly sounding to match up with it)
