I'm still not sure how Instagram ever succeeded like it did. I've never once had an interaction with Instagram that ever made me go "Yeah, i want to keep using this site" and that was BEFORE THE WEBSITE STOPPED EVER WORKING. All it does nowadays is load blank fucking pages.

I'd honestly group all except Pinterest (which I've honestly never used before) as equally atrocious.

Any of those which doesn't let you view its content without making an account.

Facebook isn't popular lol. It's been pretty dead since the 2016 election, every other status was people attacking each other for what political beliefs they had so a bunch of people went inactive. Was volatile as hell unless you surrounded yourself with similar leaning people.

So many of my friends list I deleted back then, so many announcements of people leaving due to toxicity, etc. It's much better now in terms of toxic threads but nowhere near as active.

Friendster

The only one I use is some minor YouTube usage. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. I just use it to watch some game and movie previews mostly.

The others Im aware of but dont really use/interact with other than when stuff is linked here. The one I find the most strange as in how did this format take off? Is Reddit. What a fucking mess compared to just a message board like this. How that became popular is mind boggling to me.

Twitter seems to be the biggest cesspool and gamefaqs loves to link to it. Shit like Instagram, Snapchat, and Tik tok seem like pretty minor picture/video stupid stuff to me but overall dont seem terrible.

Pinterest Ive only ever seen some recipes linked to it. Facebook seems like a mix of toxic shit and completely mundane harmless shit but mostly just an easy way for people to keep in touch. I use the messenger service just to keep in contact with a cousin in another state and share video game news and videos.

they spread just as much hate too, you just won't see it if you don't like it cause your algorithm learns. fast.
