For gaming, no.

For work, I once had a work project that took over 36 hours. Not just sitting around, either, but moving and replacing servers and network equipment. That was miserable.

College, Final Fantasy VII. I have an obsessive personalty, and once I started playing I couldn't stop. I basically went "Just 5 more minutes" and "I'll stop after I beat this next part" for an entire weekend. I only stopped because I eventually passed out on the couch. I was so in the zone I didn't stop to eat (I just drank multiple liters of Mountain Dew), and I never noticed when I needed to pee until it got physically painful (at which point I just ran to the bathroom, pissed, and then went right back to playing). My gaming trance was so deep my body couldn't stop me.

Plus, WoW exists. There are people who played so long their kids died. I can easily imagine people who played like that playing for longer than 48 hours.

(also, drugs exist)

RPGs in general have always been dangerous for me. I played Final Fantasy VI for 16 hours, and only stopped because I had got stuck and had to start over from the beginning, so the frustration broke my momentum. I played KotOR for 40 hours, and only stopped because I had beaten the game. I used to play TTRPGs (sort of like D&D, only not D&D) online, and I once played for 18 straight hours because every time I went to log off someone else logged on and I'd spend a few more hours playing. By the end some of the people I'd played with early had logged off, fully slept, and logged back on.

There are other RPGs I've spent ages playing (Suikoden springs to mind), but FFVII is definitely the big one, and was definitely longer than 48 hours.

Though 48 hours isn't even close to the longest I've ever been awake overall. Non-gaming, I once stayed awake for about 5 days, because I couldn't sleep. I'd had a flu and took a lot of Tylenol PM, and after I stopped taking it I couldn't sleep no matter how hard I tried. By the end I was starting to panic that I was going to start hallucinating. I finally managed to sleep, but I had to put a Chinese news channel on my TV to try and distract my brain from what was basically becoming a permanent anxiety attack (constant racing, insistent thoughts) in order to do it. That was 100+ hours, most of them miserable. But imagine if I'd spent all that time playing a game!

It happens but it's rare I have seen reports in Korean internet cafes of people sometimes dying or needing hospitalization after playing video games for like 50+ hours or more straight.

A few months ago, I regularly stayed awake for over 50 hours at a time. I started playing adventures with an AI language model and I was really immersed in it. I wasn't sleepy at all. However, it doesn't count as a video game, so my vote reflected that. My record is slightly over 24 hours as a teenager playing Phantasy Star Online.

Ive stayed awake for more than 48 hours before, but never for something like playing a game.

I would assume drugs or they were literal teenagers or younger

I stayed up for 56 hours playing FFXI just to get a level and a buffer exp to prevent losing a level in case of death. The needed exp to level in that game years ago was ridiculous at higher levels.

34 hours was my limit

Took a 2-3 hour nap and was good for another 10

It was fun being actually hyped for a game

I had to do it in high school and college. However, I didn't reach 48 hours.

I never did. Couldn't even if I tried.

You need to remind yourself you're at a website that only exists because people with questionable habits keep coming. GameFAQs shouldn't still be necessary in any way, but is still around because of a handful of very dedicated gamers. It's likely some of us have had some real bad binges.

Not me personally, but I bet there's more than just PO.

I think my longest video game binge was close to 20 hours. I definitely pulled all-nighters in high school and college due to procrastinating huge projects

I couldn't. Ruin my fitness regimen. The lingering effects can follow the next day though I nap. I'll wait to finish the game at daylight.

We weren't always frail old men who get excited by the prospect of being able to go to bed at 9. Once, we were full of life and vigour and pretty routinely had periods of several days with no obligations that required us to be at all functional.

Personally, though, I've never been one for multi-day binges. I like my sleep.

There's been some studies recently about the human diurnal cycle and while I couldn't find the stats for how long a person can stay awake if they are used to it... apparently you can adjust to a period of up to 3 weeks asleep.

Can you imagine sleeping for 3 weeks just cuz it's night time for that long wherever you're at?

People HAVE to break for toilet at least, I don't believe they didn't eat or drink OR use the bathroom for 48 hours straight while simply playing one videogame. No pause, no walking around, no answering the phone, just 48 hours straight with the controller in their hands at all times

24 hours, yes, but not for gaming. On intercontinental flights it has happened as I cannot sleep on a plane, but it messes me up badly. 48 hours, no way.

Well what's the rules? How long a break is ok? You're on the toilet, do you have to be as fast as possible otherwise it's a break?

IDK if i could pull an all nighter, well, i could but caffeine would have to be involved. I literally pass out most nights and I'm not exhausted, just normal tired from a typical work day.

I hear people mention pso and I wish I could get hooked to it. I had two brothers hooked to it, but i get so anxious on their levels, i can only play a level or two, or like a couple hours.
My gaming habits have changed drastically. I love arcade games now
