There are still some around, but it's pretty uncommon these days. I think there are a few factors that contribute to that, but the two main ones are... Some of those users grew up a little and realized it was cringe, and then shunned other users for continuing to act that way. The mass influx of "normies" (aka regular people) online, who now occupy all but the darkest corners of the webernets.
