Former President Donald Trump is floating the idea of appointing Elon Musk to his cabinet and the billionaire is stoked. Musk responded to the information, first reported by the Washington Post, on his social media site X early Tuesday morning.
"I can't wait. There is a lot of waste and needless regulation in government that needs to go," he wrote.
Trump has considered creating a commission of prominent business leaders to examine the government's budget and find programs to cut, the Post reported. The group, known as the "government efficiency commission," would aim to tamp down regulations and spending.

Amazing how he has the time to be part of the cabinet plus remaining CEO at all his different companies.

Being CEO sure is tough work! Definitely above us mere working mortals.

Who wants to bet that the commission of billionaires they want to form just so happen to co-incidentally want to cut or shut down every department and program meant to oversea businesses and protect consumers

Seriously.

The number of Americans who just straight up hate the idea of democracy is extremely troubling.

I dont think he technically can be a cabinet member. I couldnt find a specific law on it, though. But every cabinet member is in the succession line for PotUS, and hes not eligible for that position.

He would overturn like every safety regulation possible and we'll start seeing people at SpaceX die left and right.

Similar to how you can be a Representative at Age 25 and be chosen as Speaker of the House (who doesn't have to be a Representative, though it always has been). It'd just skip the 2nd in line and go to the next eligible person.

I honestly think countries like Singapore, Vietnam and Seychelles being so successful have given a lot of poorly educated people in the west the wrong idea about dictatorships.

Sure you occasionally get a benevolent dictator who does good things for their country, but it's rare as hell, and people who think they'll get that with a second Trump term are going to be in for an incredibly rude awakening.

And even if he is good, what happens when he dies? You're stuck with whoever takes charge. Eventually you're going to get a shitty one, and that person will have absolute, unchecked control.
