I very rarely spend money on F2P games. Besides a one time purchase of Rocket Pass, I've only bought two songs (Never Gonna Give You Up and Superman by Goldfinger), and I'm still using one of them.

i'll only spend as much money in an f2p game as I think the game should cost if it was a regularly priced game

One time I worked with a guy who had spent like $2200 on a cell phone game, and he told me and I was like dude what the fuck and I made fun of him so bad and because of my shame he quit playing the game

it might have been a dick thing to do, but I think the ends justified the mean

I've spent probably $2-3k on a mobile game hehe

In all likelihood he probably just moved on to another game, but there's a chance that he may have learned something from the experience. So who knows.

I'm willing to go a bit over if it's something I've gotten a ton of playtime out of and/or I particularly want to support it, but usually I don't spend more than like $20-30 tops.

It's baffling to me that the free to play model even works. I can't even justify buying dlc for games, let alone shit for free games.

It's because $0.99 is basically free, so it's totally OK if you buy 2000 of the thing that costs that.

Dude, that isn't even bad, I know people who have spent thousands on individual games over a couple of years. When I asked them "do you know how many games you could have bought for this amount?" I'm usually met with something along the lines of "but I really like this one!"

It's no wonder that video game companies prioritize microtransactions over making quality games. It's extremely lucrative and much more long-term, for far less effort. If they can get one person to dump $1,000 into microtransactions for every 10 people who would actually pay full price for a full length game, they are making bank with very little effort. And Trust me, the number of people who will actually dump a bunch of money into micro transactions is probably higher than many of you think.
