Is "less popular" really the wording it used? Could you link the poll?

I saw recent Pew research that religious nones now comprise more than 25% of the US population, which was pretty surprising. The largest single group in the country.

Used to be that atheists are the most distrusted group in the US even below rapists.

That's sad. I'm athiest. I'm about as trustworthy as they come. I once got into a philosophy debate about what came first morals or the community law. I said community law. For instance a dude 6000 years ago decides that taking another dudes stuff makes the other dude angry. The first dude to avoid futher conflict says to the rest of the people I was wrong and lets make a rule everybody stuff is their own if they want to share thats fine. Religion comes later to define what was already there They make the mistake that giving up believing in God makes you someone with out morals. It doesnt work like that. In some people they try to decide to live a life of goodness some a life of evil. This is a conscience choice. Sure religion can influence but ultimately it's on you. Too many ignore all that and assume Athiest=evil

Maybe the church can stop being evil, and the good ones should call out the bad ones instead of enabling them.

I lived in Seattle and this doesn't surprise me. There are definitely religious conservatives in the more rural parts of the state, but definitely one of the less religious states overall.

I hope we get to a point in my lifetime where we have openly atheists running for higher political office like the Senate. Where some sitting members of Congress feel comfortable enough to come out of the closet as an Atheist and not fear it will cost them their job.

And yet, DTump still has some pull in the election. Id like to think voters were smarter, but I suppose many don't think of him as "Republican", just a Donald.
