Yes lol you can craft the cards into a badge when you have a full set. Crafting the badge multiple times upgrades it and gives you more steam xp as well I think

I used to go through the effort to get the seasonal badges during special sales but don't bother with that anymore, steam level ups are pretty useless

Get less from buying games & more for making badges from cards. It's how St4ck & that other person have such a high level. Helps being a Qatari royal.

In the Steam points shop, there is a section called Seasonal Badge that allows you to use points to buy a badges that increases your xp and Steam level. You can only buy it for the current season and will be available again the next season. Normally these correspond with the big Steam seasonal sale.

It's a fundamentally stupid system. Your level simply reflects how much money you spent specifically to increase your level. But for some reason there are people who participate in it anyway. Even gamerscore was a better metric.

Whatever, it means when I get these shitty cards I can drop them on the market and make 75 cents doing nothing.

They are good for allowing more "showcases" on your profile, but you can also just buy extra showcase slots from "The Points Shop" (points being gained from making purchases).

I hate how that works, btw.

The seasonal badges are probably the "easiest" way to jump up in level. Badges give 100 exp each tier, meaning that game badges cap at 500. The seasonal ones cap at 40, so you end up with 4k exp from one of them + if you're buying games you end up with a bunch of misc points sitting around that can be thrown at it.
