The androids were a lot scarier to me than the alien, and I think I finally figured out why. There's something oddly comforting about the futility of the alien. If the androids see you, your chances of escaping are actually not that bad. So if you do get seen, or even grabbed, you can have a little panic moment where you try to survive. But if the alien sees you, welp. --- Arguing on CE be all like: https://youtu.be/JpRKrs67lOs?si=kPGA2RCKVHTdbVrJ ... Copied to Clipboard!

One of my favorite games of all time. What advice I can offer from experience, is sticking to a locker/cabinet until it goes up into a vent hasn't been a winning strategy. I get the sense the game wants to keep you mobile. You'll notice some debris scattered around the halls as you crawl along (when the alien is active in your area), and though they do not look high enough, if you press up close to them, they can keep the alien from spotting you as it walks past, allowing you to keep moving toward your objective. One of the most painful chapters is 4, but that was back when I was hiding in lockers and cabinets and hoping it would just go away. Once I started playing a little more boldly, at times trailing behind it while hugging debris as I made my to the exit, I haven't had much trouble since (and this is on hard mode, even). In areas where the alien isn't active, you can safely walk around without any worry of alerting it (just don't run). But when the alien is prowling in your area, I'd recommend crawling, and walking judiciously when the alien feels like it is sufficiently out of range of hearing you. --- I must have looked a fool playing with a backwards DS, teary eyed solving a Sudoku puzzle -Lordx718 ... I couldn't bother to finish it myself. Gamefaqs likes to swear by it, but I found it very boring. You spend the majority of the time hiding from...not the alien...but from robots. I didn't think think the game is scary as much as it is the most stressful and tense game I've played. When the alien is around and you need to get by him and you just slowly walk to the next hiding spot gave me such anxiety. Tip, don't crouch walk everywhere. Walking is fine (never ever sprint). So long as it's far enough away you can get places faster. Just be ready to hop into a hiding spot. I love isolation it's one of my most favorite horror games of all time --- http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223/chocolateFRESH/arts/kraid.png - Thanks GP cosmonaut! http://i.imgur.com/TuJWAR8.jpg ... Great game. I think it's a bit too long and I understand the complaint of having to sit and wait for extended periods, but I like the randomness of the alien's AI and the sound design is top notch and really makes the tension palpable. ReturnOfDevsman posted... Yeo, sprinting is a noob trap. Literally no reason to do it ever.
