Beat Black 1 before that. Overall Gen 5 is alright most of the mons kinda suck B2 remedies this at least by mixing in old mons. Water types especially are forgettable in this gen. I remember it being harder but I pretty much swept the E4

If you're looking for something Pokemon related to play, I'll suggest PokeRogue. It's a browser-based roguelike that offers some great challenges. You start off with being able to choose any of the starters of the 9 gens, with a point cost system of how many you can bring with you, then you can capture other Pokemon along your way to add to your starter choices. The rival is very challenging and it's easy to lose on the first encounter with them on wave 8, and your later encounters with them will test you as well.

If you like getting dopamine rushes from unlocking new things, PokeRogue is great for that fix.

Same reason Pokemon Showdown has never been shut down, I imagine. Just so long as they don't try making money off it, they'll be fine.

Been playing pokerouge pretty much exclusively for like 6 weeks now. Almost have all starters unlocked. Have about 55 shinies, tons of hidden abilities. It's really addictive. Didn't really think it would be my thing.

I've been playing since early July and have 63 shinies and still need 6 more starters before I can finally capture Eternatus. I haven't even seen Deoxys or Jirachi at all.

pokerogue never really clicked with me tbh, i played for a couple hours and wasn't really feeling it

i've been playing pokemon emerald rogue on it's massive new patch lately though and been loving it. tons of content and there's a mode where you can set everything to a double battle, i think my only problem with it is that there's no prep area or warning for rival battles (like there is for gyms) so sometimes you'll just be in a pokemon center with your rival at the door and you can't do anything about it

Missing both of those, 3 or so paradox mons, Mewtwo, celebi, dialga, Arceus, mespirit, spectrire, and a handful of others im forgetting off the top of my head. Regular Articuno I think is one of them.
