The one-game playoff was exciting and it gave a larger advantage to the teams with the bye.

These series are definitely not as fun. I also think its a bummer to play a longer series and have to watch it on the road. So many fans wait a long time to see a playoff game and then its all stuck on TV.

I hate how baseball has continued to expand the playoffs, despite having a 162 game regular season.

I'd rather a single table for each league with the top 2 making the playoffs. 7 game Championship series then 7 game World Series, done.

But that's "bad for business" and so all these wildcards aren't going to go away. Given that, I prefer the 3 game series to the 1 game "series" because the "better" team should prevail more often rather than the wildness of a single game. That many of them end up being 2 game sweeps is of little consequence.

Brewers are doing the same thing that sunk the Mets yesterday - Getting the leadoff runner on almost every inning, and stranding him.

The teams are a combined 0-17 with runners on any base through 4 1/2.

Man that didn't take long for that to be right. Butto is pretty easily the worst pitcher on the Mets.

Brewers needed to pull the guy before that single, though. He was over 30 pitches and pretty clearly done.

Devin Williams hasn't been that good this year. He rarely had clean innings since he came back from injury. Sadly, this wasn't a surprise at all.

Also the closer getting the win for cleaning up a bad pitcher's mess and a starter getting the save is funny.

The Mets now need to make it to the World Series to continue the trend of every team who beats the Brewers in the postseason makes it to the World Series.

Last night was even worse than we knew. Williams was tipping his pitches the entire 9th inning and the Mets noticed, but the Brewers didn't. Nimmo and Alonso both knew exactly what pitches were coming their entire at bats. and Alonso was specifically told what to aim for by a coach before coming up to bat.

The Brewers failed the 9th inning systemically.
