I have to constantly hit auto-sort or spend time manually sorting my inventory. In-game clutter annoys me just as much as IRL clutter.

I usually do the exact opposite, run as fast as I can and bump into anything. With a bit of luck, I'll have ran past them before they can even start their attack animation.

I do the exact same as you if I know the enemies have grab attacks though.

No matter the size of the open world, I prefer to run around rather than fast travel.

I also always prefer to go on foot versus horseback, with the sole exception being the motorcycle in BotW (unless you count vehicles in GTA, but I view on foot as the secondary form of movement there).

Survival horror I always save the key items in storage even after they are used and they won't be useable for a new game plus.

I always save my game very frequently and often 2 times in the save screen because I don't want to replay a section.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever liked using mounts in games. They just interrupt the exploration because I have to get off of them so often.

In games that have a minimap that gets revealed as you explore, I obsessively fill in the map. Even when there's nothing there. My college roommate saw me doing this in the Tattooine desert in KotOR and could not understand why anyone would do this.

I also hoard resources like you wouldn't believe. Dying without using a healing item is child's play. I'm the kind of guy who figures out you can save bullets in RE4 by doing one headshot, running in for a kick, then knifing them while they try to get up. I generally get through The Last of Us using one molotov and 2-3 shotgun shells.

I invert the Y-axis, but keep the X-axis as-is.

In shooting games, I reload anytime I'm not actively shooting something. It causes me to reload constantly lol.

I also hoard high level healing items to the point that I never use them.

"Oh that elixir fully recovers all of my HP and MP. I better save it until I really need it"

*proceeds to never use it, even on the final boss*

Even when you have the maximum you can carry, and you get the little message that says "inventory full" you're like "I could use one NOW and then pick this one up, but... Nah."

In RPGs I feel compelled to open every single chest even though I know that all the chests in the first area of the game will be the lowest level nonsense gear and level 1 healing items. I still feel if I dont I will miss out on some good piece of gear but all these years of experience deep down I know the truth. But I still need to open every chest.

I'll open 1000/1000 crates or boxes in a room. Bioshock, Fallout, Assassins Creed, if there's a box or chest to open, you bet your ass I'll be looting it.

I always thought it would be funny if the best weapon in the game were just named "stick" and you find it in a chest right at the start of the game, but you have to choose between it and something else without being able to look at the stats.

In stealth games, I always remember to close doors behind me. Just in case.

In fighting games I like to jump at my opponent. Surely they wont think Id do it 7 times in a row!

I used to actually take time to learn a fighter and find some good combos, and get to the point where I can usually beat even the best CPUs.

These days I just find a "combo" (ie, a move in the movelist that just happens to have multiple inputs) and spam it, and it's pretty much equally effective against CPUs.

In GTA - 4 mainly, i couldn't bring myself to hurt any innocent as it just didn't fit nikko's character unless he was fucked with first.

He had his fill at that point, so i even opted to never steal cars, and use the taxi. Roman's Taxi driver, and nikko had awesome conversations that made the game seem so lived in. I loved it!. lol

Play RPGs up to the last battle, stop right there and never actually beat the game.

Trying to act "normal" for NPCs. Not staring at them, giving them personal space, not jumping around randomly or attacking them even when they don't react to it.

I'll break these "rules" if I'm experimenting with the game or if I'm getting impatient with something, but by default, I will automatically try to be normal and polite even when the game doesn't care lol.

In party-based RPGs, I always have to have the main character in the active party. Or in Pokemon, I always had to had my starter in the lineup.

I do this and my friend judges me hardcore for it, but I told him most games back in the day were y-inverted (and did not let you change it) so that's how I got used to it.

If there's breakables they always get destroyed before I move on from the area. I hold down a and b when playing pokemon for catching luck. I also gotta read the bestiary entries when ever there's one available

In every Bethesda game I've played from Oblivion onward I have a hobby of collecting corpses; this involves either figuring out which ones naturally do not despawn, or finding an exploit to keep them from despawning.

In RPGs I don't like it when my characters' levels are too far apart. If possible I'll try to level up the lower level characters more to get everyone to at least close to the same level.

I feel surprised how hard Rabi Ribi bosses are despite my complete refusal to use healing items.

If I got an excess of certain items in my inventory, that shit's gotta end either in 0 or 5, and I will sell off to compensate. I will not handle having 64 potions in my inventory, it's gotta be 60.

Similarly, I won't accept self-made enchantment numbers in Skyrim that aren't divisible by 5. Through a combination of Enai mods and preexisting mechanics I finally got a reliable, repeatable system for getting perfectly-rounded enchantment numbers (25, 40, 50, 65, 100).

In RPGs whenever I come across a shop with better equipment I always grind on the overworld until I have enough money to buy it all for all my characters.

Unless the shop sells something I'm clearly not supposed to buy at that point, like if enemies give 5 gold and there is a sword that costs 10,000.

The thing is, in a well designed game you shouldn't want to use a mount.

Not sure if it's weird but if I play platformers like Mario I find myself humming stage music because it helps me focus.

I'll put CRT filters on any game on my PC, even modern titles.

I mean this basically was the case with the walking stick in the old Hobbit game on OG xbox.

Once you get all the upgrades for it, it was beastly. Never really needed the sword.

When I start playing a brand new game, I will 99% of the time go straight to the options menu to poke around what types of settings the game offers before actually starting the game itself. Logically, I should probably see the defaults first in gameplay then adjust, but I just want to see the settings first. Dont matter if its a complex RPG or simple platformer - I must know the secrets of the options menu.

Skyrim example:

I have 270,000 gold.

This dungeon has like five gold spread out on a plate.

You better fuckin' believe I'll spend a good thirty seconds collecting that five gold.

I'm physically, mentally, and emotionally incapable of leaving it behind.

I always save twice, even if it's the same save file. I'll save, then immediately overwrite that new save.

I think it's some sort of OCD cus I do that when I lock the door when I leave home. I'll lock the door, remove my key, reinsert it, and turn it to the left again to make sure it's locked.

If you can jump in a game, I'm constantly jumping while moving forward. It's really dumb because it makes me feel like I'm moving faster when I'm really not.
