I just saw the movie and it blew me away, especially with how well they portrayed Blade, Elektra, Gambit, and X-23. They had no business doing them so well, but they did. I was doubly shocked because while they nailed these characters, they mistreated the other cameos. The opening even made me a bit sad since Logan's ending was so meaningful to me. But seeing these characters done justice was fantastic. Honestly, I wouldn't even call them cameos they were full-fledged characters. They even did Pyro well.

What did you guys think?

I thought it was much weaker than its predecessors and would have been helped enormously by having a story to tell, rather than just an excuse to go from set piece to set piece.

Not the worst superhero film Ive seen by any stretch, and it had some fun moments, but doesnt measure up to expectations.

I haven't seen it, but in the sense this movie was seen as a "last hurrah" for Wolverine, iirc, Ryan Reynolds said he wanted to do something similar for Blade.

I mean, it's a giant love letter to the Fox X-Men/comic movie franchise. The end credits were a nice touch.

X-Men: Days of Future Past felt like a send off

And then he had that Cameo in Apocalypse that also felt like a goodbye nod

That was more of a send off to the OG X-Men cast.

this is what I was talking about:

The reaction when @realwesleysnipes enters the movie is the most intense thing Ive heard in a theater, Reynolds, 47, captioned photos of him and Snipes, 62, on the set of the Marvel movie via Instagram on Wednesday, August 21. People screaming with uninhibited joy and love is also the sound of a legacy.

Reynolds went on to state, More Blade please. #DayWalker, before clarifying that he wants the character to receive a Logan-style send off, specifically .

It was overall kind of meh to me. The story was pretty weak, the main antagonist was OP for no reason other to add tension for two MCs that are nigh invincible. The ending was trash. Logans history cant be altered to save his friends but Deadpool got a pass to do wwith zero consequences? GTFO.

Also the very concept of anchor point characters are dumb. I dont understand writers trying to revolve the entire universes existence around a irrelevant human on earth. Its the same crap they do for spiderverse.

Hopefully Deadpool can move away from all this time/multiversal crap for future films.

So you missed that this is all meta commentary about the MCU discarding everything else Marvel except for those precious few they choose to be in their world. Now the plot, OP antagonist and anchor point characters make sense.

It is also a love letter to all those old Marvel properties that the MCU is sweeping under the rug.

I did. It was just shit.

As has already been pointed out, the whole anchor beings thing was crap. It all starts from an incredibly flawed premise, never feels like it has any meaningful stakes and just acts as a vehicle to get from one set piece to the other.

I wasnt expecting it to be high brow or anything, but its a significantly weaker story than the other two.
