Embrace it There's more than just us to all this. When this world fails, life exists elsewhere, hopefully in a more successful and harmonious fashion. How does it creep you out versus like... astonishing and amazing you? I mean, I know I'm a big fuckin space nerd at heart and all, but it makes my mind boggle with pure childish amazement that we are currently controlling (or have the ability to control) something WE BUILT ON EARTH on the surface of Mars. That continually inspires me daily as a testament to the awesome power of the human spirit. Then when I see these pictures from space? To think about all the tremendous possibilities out there? Both the potentially infinitesimally small chance that life happened on this planet to the almost certainty that it has happened in other places in the universe given how infinitely large it all is? It brings me such a sense of awe, wonder, and just the purest sense of beauty in everything. --- https://i.imgur.com/GWG5c3r.gif ... Copied to Clipboard!

KaZooo posted... Embrace it Quite the opposite really. The fact that we built something, sent it to space and it's still operational is quite a feat (one that will be dwarfed by our descendants). There will forever be pieces of Earth and human engineering falling in space long after us. Kind of spectacular really. --- Am I going too hard? ... Copied to Clipboard!

Somewhere out in the vastness of space is a planet that supports life similar to our own. It seems like there should be life out there, but if any of it ever evolved to something comparable to or better than humans then it seems we should be crawling in evidence of their existence. I don't mean UFO sightings explained away as swamp gas but signals coming at us and nobody can cover it all up or aliens landing in Timea Square and greeting us or something. Either life is out there but it never got beyond basic forms, life did exist but has been long gone, it advanced but advanced civilizations all managed to destroy themselves before they got far beyond us, they're deliberately evading us, or our world is it in the universe. None of these are great. --- I'm not here for friends. I'm here for the truth to the best of my knowledge of it, even if it's not what people want to hear. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Evolician posted... Isnt it true that all those other galaxies are slowly drifting further away? And theyre already millions of light years away. So like humanity will never reach other galaxies /: The closest galaxies are drifting closer due to gravity and will eventually merge; we don't have to go them, they are coming to us. The further out galaxies are being spread away by the expansion of space. Since space expands faster than light that means these galaxies are impossible to reach from here, and eventually won't even be visible from here. In the distant future, it'll look like there's only one galaxy in the entire universe. No others will be visible from where any individual person is at. They also won't have any way to figure out how the universe began; it'll look like it was just always there. ... Copied to Clipboard!
