I went to a BK once, went through the drive thru. They took my card but never gave it back. So I went inside and told them, and the cashier held up two debit cards, then looked at their boss asking them what should they do. I told them either give me my debit card back or I'm jumping over the counter and getting it back myself. I got it back and left.
