Im a mile away from my home and Im in the middle of the forest with no sounds of the city and the only life I can hear are the squirrels digging through the leaves to find their snack.

honestly tho? Not bad. Ive been here eight years and most of our winters have been super mild. There was the polar vortex where it was -40 with windchill but I still went out to catch a concert.

Y'all always downplay it like this too, nah. One has to really like snow, ice, and freezing ass cold to live there.

if you lived in the Midwest at all, its just the Midwest. Like my central Iowa winters were more brutal than anything up here.

Yeah I live in NE Iowa and it gets pretty harsh here in the winter but I honestly dont think its that bad. We consistently get -30 or worse windchills like every year and I dont even wear a coat. I keep one in my truck just in case I break down or get stranded, Im not stupid, but yeah I dont even use it.

I actually like cold weather and its a small trade off for the low population and cheap cost of living. I love it and Im glad most people dont want to live here.

It is not that bad. The roads are kept clear, and when it is that cold, you just stay inside. Not gonna freeze walking to and from your car.

Doesnt downtown Minneapolis have a bunch of interconnected walkways to move between buildings in the winter without going outside?

We'll be lucky if we don't get snow before October ends and it usually lasts well into April

I've been hearing good things about the Minnesota and Chicago area. I probably wouldn't mind moving there if I was younger. Apparently the winters are getting milder there than what they used to be in the past

I've lived in both Dallas and Denver and I was surprised at how moderate I found the winters in Denver. I was really scared I wouldn't be able to handle it.

But I do know north/north east winters are a different level than Denver winter

I've been looking at Raleigh for a nice climate. Summers are only a bit warmer than Wisconsin, but their winter is dope. You get a little bit of snow, but it melts, and you get a few days in the 50 and 60s every month. Spring also starts more like second week of February and is in full swing by march. They can get the hurricanes, but they're pretty far inland and away from the mountains that exacerbate the flooding.

Yeah, you gotta dress up and prepare, and even then, you get a little cold and your feet will get a little wet. I just wanna go for a hike. Not too much goes on out there, either. I always love when the sounds and smells return in spring.
From Wisconsin, but pretty much the same.

Went up there and took some shrooms last year. It was very beautiful, but there were a lot of people, so my friend and I couldn't talk to each other about what we were experiencing.

By the end that river is cold, dark and will fucking kill you if you happen to fall in. And thats not counting the pollution.
