Had to go with Jimmies. I use both that and sprinkles but I knew them as jimmies before I knew them as sprinkles.

I don't live in Philly but close enough and might explain why I never heard them being called sprinkles until I was a teenager. Now that more people have come here I hear sprinkles much more often then jimmies.

That works. I'd know what you mean.

Been a while since I had any, actually. Licorice is something I don't buy for myself as I'd have a hard time pacing myself with it. Better to just not have it in the house. Good thing I never get anybody at the door for St Maarten or all the leftover candy would go way too quickly after the 11th.

Where I'm from, "jimmies" refers to a specific type of chocolate sprinkle.

So those would be sprinkles, but if they were chocolate and a specific make and shape they would be jimmies.

To be fair, size is relative and impossible to tell in either of these pictures. Maybe those are some big ass sprinkles. Also, the OP doesn't say a god damn thing about putting them on ice cream.
