This morning was the latest sunrise of the year. Tomorrow's will be an hour earlier.

Meh, I think it's better to have the sun come up a bit earlier personally. With most people's work schedule they are driving home in the dark from work either way, throughout a good chunk of winter assuming they leave work a bit after 5pm.

And I hope Standard Time will stay forever. I don't want to change to DST ever again. It's such an outdated and dangerous practice.

Not really. I'm actually very glad we do it.

Without it, sunrise would be 9:30 in December. This is dangerous for morning commutes. Likewise, sunrise would be 3:30 in June, which is a pain in the ass.

I don't care about when the sun sets either way but it is definitely nice to have more evening daylight in the summer.

Can we set it where the sun rises at noon during the winter?

I'm against DST (Daylight Saving Time), not ST (Standard Time). December would remain the same. The week we change to DST is the week with the most vehicular deaths. Days are naturally longer in June. Just use curtains if that bothers you.

It's not worth messing up with everyone's health. If you want more daytime while awake, follow a farmer's schedule. All experts agree that DST is bad.

I'm in the group that it is a non-issue. We've been doing it as long as any of us have been alive, just deal with it. Don't particularly have any preference for it, but in this moment, I could really use the extra hour of sleep tonight.

Honestly though, I'm just tired of the bickering and the "Clock-tease" of promised change. If we're gonna be done with it, just get it over with. Make it a national change. The worst thing that could happen is for individual states to phase it out gradually over decades.

I think most disagree with you most states want to move to a thing like Arizona where they never change the clocks back and forth. I hear all the time that people hate driving home in the dark it makes it feel like they lose the entire day.

Even before the sun is fully up in the morning anyways you do get a bit of daylight, it's not like sunrise is actually when you first see any sunlight.

in the summer there's too much sun and I wake up at 4.30am with it and then it's still sunny at 10pm so I'm not tired

in the winter I want to sleep until 10am as it's still dark then the day feels over at 4pm

spring and autumn are nice

once I buy a house next year I'll get nice curtains to help in the summer, and automated smart lights to mimic the sun in the winter

but yeah the sun is the most difficult thing about moving here

Dark grey places have never used daylight savings, light grey places formerly used it. Orange places use daylight savings in the southern hemisphere summer. Blue places use daylight savings in the northern hemisphere summer.

I'm for it. The Netherlands has a slightly shorter DST period and we tend to get on a week (sometimes two) after you and get off a week before. This means that with my fiancee in the USA, we are temporarily one hour closer to each other than usual, which rather messes with our regular schedule. Good to have it restored.
