Asking as someone who hasnt played any Luigis Mansion game besides the firstNot sure if it's better than the original. But the level design and puzzle design are really excellent all around. I was annoyed by the mission structure the first time around, and also generally annoyed at how many missions are "you're about to get to X, but Y shenanigans gets in your way and you need to deal with it." A lot of creativity in the different mansions as well. The big downside to the mission structure for me is that getting collectables is a big hassle imo. --- <insert sig here> ... I've made 3 separate topics asking about this game for opinions and no one was interested in talking about it, so I'm really thankful for this topic. I already played 3 so I hope I can go back. This will be the first time I play 2, hope it's good. I'm waiting on a sale for it myself. --- http://i.imgur.com/0UFI0T9.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

I played 2 when it originally came out then 3 when it's launched. Last year I replayed 3 again, and last month back to 2 on the Switch for the first time. I really enjoyed 2 again, the combat is truly superior than 3 with proper boss battles. You will definitely like it especially the combat and the slightly higher difficulty. It's mission structure doesn't feel restricted most the time. Don't expect better graphics and level design like 3, but you do get actual mansions to explore. ... Copied to Clipboard!

My advice is to not give a single thought to the ranking system and take your time exploring with each mission (if you so choose). The reasons you are pulled out of the mansions are very contrived, but with a self aware humor to it. It was amusing to me the second time around the dumb reasons they would come up with. Ultimately, I think the mission structure made for some really tight level design for many missions. Then, there are a handful of obvious filler missions (usually based around following polterpup or hunting ghosts through areas you've explored previously), but I did not mind them so much since it was kind of fun to explore "fully accessible" mansions after various puzzles have been completed. --- <insert sig here> ...
