I am kind of confused by what's going on in Texas. It's....definitely more blue now than it should be.

I don't think Kamala has a chance there but could be really good for Allred.

Early vote and mostly Dallas vote.

I would not read into Texas or Ohio too much unless comparing directly to past results by county.

Texas is almost entirely Dallas/Fort Worth right now.

Ohio has more of a mix but still has a disproportionately large current tally from its Democratic bastions with many rural red counties not reporting.

Biden had a lead in Texas in 2020 as well.

It won't last, unfortunately.

First bad omen I've noticed is that Harris seems to be tracking behind Biden in Virginia. Not enough to lose the state, but still not encouraging.

I am basically at peak nervousness and nausea now.

There was a reporting error confirmed here lol. The county that was worrying has more votes incoming.

The thing wild in PA right now is that Kamala is outperforming Casey.

Hard to say whether that's her overperforming or him underperforming. Almost all polling it had Casey over Kamala. Hopefully it's the former.

I'm comparing multiple counties to 2020. For example, Harris is currently losing Virginia Beach on VA's southeastern tip, a region Biden won by about 5%. Trump's also running up bigger margins in the small rural counties so far.

Actually Ohio Senate does look a bit promising to me since that count has 0% from Columbus and Cincinnatti while still showing a lead for the Democratic candidate (who is the incumbent and has consistently outperformed the state partisan lean).

Of course the Senate race was slightly favored for Democrats from the beginning but still

i could see that, if only because trump campaigned there for some reason. kamala i don't think focused virginia because it's safely blue.

I think it's too early to know for sure and trying to follow scattered reports across states while results are still coming in is like... not the ideal way to analyze but the impression I've got so far is that Trump is doing better than 2020 in rurals but Harris seems to be up from Biden 2020 in the suburbs.

If that's true I think that nets in her favor but every time I try to calm myself with that something happens like that Loudoun county result (yeah I know data error but it didn't help the stress levels in the minutes before that report!)

Oh that mirage with Tidewater Virginia definitely happened in 2020 as well.

virgina's more rural/red counties count faster than urban/blue counties because the red counties are less populated.

There are some states where the Republican can be outrunning the Democrat 75/25 but they'll still call it then and there for the Dem.

Certain counties are just gonna report in certain ways in certain orders that are predictable enough nowadays to call.

Literally the entire reason Virginia is treated like a swing state is because of this timeframe we're in right now and no one can ever remember this.

Georgia did not look even winnable at all for Biden for quite a while in 2020.

I thought Ohio was nice on my little trip to the Cleveland area last year.

Minus the very scary torrential downpour on my way back from Cedar Point. That came out of nowhere.

Yeah a lot of the larger counties, iirc don't count mail-in/early until after the day vote.

In VA the only thing I'm worried about is the mayoral election. I hope the current results are only because of certain districts.

I'm glad that VA can still deliver a bit of spice nowadays though. Not yet insignificant!

I was using NPR's tracker for a little bit and I'm suddenly realizing I probably shouldn't have been.

I'm not concerned about Harris actually losing Virginia, I'm just concerned about the margins, as I assume poor margins in Virginia hurt her chances in North Carolina and Georgia. Though elections/campaigning have gotten so polarized and granular that one might argue every state's result is now self-contained.
