I feel like theres something incredibly unsettling about him getting 40/45% of the votes from demographics hes spent a bunch of time demonizing and threatening to force them out of the country.

So we have:
climate change - we're fucked
Ukraine - they're probably fucked
Gaza - completely fucked
Supreme Court - fucked for our lifetime

All because of inflation, which we actually handled probably the best out of the entire world. People are dumb.

There will be lots of post-mortems on what went wrong so we will get a better idea soon. For now I will say Im so sorry my American friends, I hope you can protect your democracy for long enough to see this overturned.

At the end of the day, post-covid economic issues including inflation have been absolutely wrecking incumbent governments worldwide. This is another part of that. There is a global anti-incumbent surge happening (left, right, or centre) and the Democrats were unlucky enough to have been left holding the bag.

The other issue is Gaza. The canary in the coalmine for the Democrats should have been the four independents elected as a Gaza protest vote in the UK. Now, those were a tiny minority in a landslide election so it didnt matter much there. However, that should have set alarm bells ringing for Democrats as A) US involvement and support for Israel is significantly greater, B) the Democrats are actually in charge and C) the presidential system gives much more potential to do damage with a protest vote like that. As I said earlier I understand and share the upset with the Democrats over this. What I cannot understand is not thinking that Trump will be worse.

Supposedly Kamala is expected to concede soon.

If you want to and can definitely dont rule it out, I was in Spain not too long ago and its recovered incredibly from austerity following the recession. They are doing very well there thanks to their centre-left government investing a ton, one of the best post-covid recoveries too. Plus its just a cool place.

I emigrated (from the UK) and it was nice not having to deal with the nonsense as directly Im not going to lie. However the overwhelming majority in the US right now cant do that.

That New Hampshire poll from Dartmouth was even worse. When I saw it I felt there must be something wrong with the methodology since they are apparently a new pollster (despite being affiliated with a prestigious university).

I'm roughly estimating that the final popular vote ends at Trump +2. That would give a polling error for the national poll aggregation of 3 points. Slightly less erroneous than 2020 and Brexit. Hopefully we won't have to hear any more about pollsters being biased in favor of Republicans when the aggregation has undershot Trump 3 consecutive elections.

For all the hearding concerns, maybe that's just what they had. The republican "biased" polls seem to be the most accurate yet again.

If the Dems are stupid enough to try a female candidate for president again anytime within the next 20 years, they deserve to lose that election too. The US simply doesn't want a female president (and I say that as someone who would've preferred Kamala, or even Hilary in 2016).

Dems nominees being women isn't the problem. Hillary Clinton was immersed in a scandal, and Harris was the VP in a failed administration.
