While he has an incredible penchant for skulduggery and keeping his minions in check, he is notoriously terrible at long-term planning. He did not appreciate the scope and scale of what he was attempting and instead of giving himself an escape clause (i.e. allowing himself the ability to withdraw and say "we accomplished our goals" while still saving face), he burned his boats by formally annexing four Ukrainian oblasts, two of which he has never fully occupied. Thus, he's stuck in a quagmire with no good exit strategy and the Ukrainians aren't about to let him freeze the conflict again (since they've learned the hard way what happens when you do). --- Kill 1 man: You are a murderer.
