Yeah, hoping to go to Costco this week,. though my mom lost her Costco card. My sis says she should be able to get a new one by showing her ID.

If you're going to get a pre build from Costco, try to get one that has dual channel RAM (meaning 2 sticks).

If it doesn't but the price is right, then I'd recommend buying another one to put in. It'll make a huge difference, and installing RAM is the easiest component to install.

I'm a little confused here. Granted, I'm still winding down from an incredibly stressful situation I had over the past half hour (we thought my mom left her wallet somewhere)

a modular power supply has fully removable cables instead of hard wired ones, so you only need to install what you actually need at the time. usually they still come with extras

dual channel RAM means if you get 16GB it will be 8GB x2. if one stick dies your PC will still work, instead of one stick dying bricking the whole thing.

A lot of pre built PCs only use 1 stick of RAM to cut costs, but you really want to have 2. If all you can find are pre builds with 1 stick, I'd say it's probably still okay to go with it and just buy a second stick (same size and speed) because it'll make a big difference in performance

Also, I want a Windows 10, not Windows 11 (forgot to mention that in my opening.) And no fucking lighted cooling fans, I'm very sensitive to light, holy shit what a horrible design feature.
Even when removing the RAM requirement, the only desktop PCs available have those stupid lights.
WTF Costco doesn't even sell Windows 10's anymore?! They used to sell 2-year old models when I bought my PC from there the last time, I don't want Windows 11!

So what should I do?

I rock windows 11, no issues whatsoever. They phase out PCs with older OS pretty quick due to security risks on older shit etc...

The last two (only 2) prebuilt I've had were amazing, and both Asus

My main PC is still on 10 but I have a couple devices using 11. I forgot what I did in my BIOS after installing a new component but it became incompatible
