Trump has offered to use the military to deal with the cartels, honestly a better initiative than all the overseas shit the US does.

the cartel also controls mexico, they're too integrated with the politics there

there was a reason over 30 political candidates were assassinated before their elections, because they didn't make deals with the cartel

so going to war with them means going to war with the whole country

and the reason a wall is useless is cause a good amount of border portal are bought off by the cartel

Which feels like a stronger argument for US involvement. Keep in mind the US wound up imprisoning some of Mexico's cartel leaders. For example, El Chapo escaped Mexican prisons THREE times. So far he's had ZERO escapes from a US prison.

Not at all. The corrupt members aren't going to mobilize the military to fight, they're going to cut bait and protect themselves. iirc, the mayor of a town where a bus full of teachers were murdered ended up going on the run when he fell under suspicion. Although the cartels have compromised large portions of Mexico's government, they don't run the country. (And several regions were kicking both the cartels and the government out some time ago, iirc.)
