Constantly kicking us out of the parks where do they expect us to go

Shit sucks. Knew a case where the homeless went into the woods. The public didn't wanna see them ya? So they went into the woods. City had all the trees cut down and ran em off.

That doubly pisses me off. Running homeless off is bad enough but I can't stand trees being cut down for no good reason.

When I went to rehab though they had a tent city next door (they eventually got ran off) but this homeless woman somehow managed to sneak in. She would hang around the smoke area and bum ciggs. The rehab center was just like how about you just sign into rehab. Free food a bed etc. She took it.

Was an amazing thing really cause over the course of the month I was there she went from a frail death warmed over looking woman to looking fairly healthy.

We had another homeless guy. He didn't sneak in but I remember him giving a lecture to the entire group one day cause he got fed up with people complaining about the amenities of the place and he had a point. The food was good the beds comfortable my only gripe was selection of drinks and the place wasn't diabetic friendly which the staff themselves would admit to. I felt like a inmate one day I got someone to smuggle a soda in and it was glorious after going almost a month with nothing carbonated. I didn't care about the caffeine and what he brought had no caffeine anyways but that sweet sweet carbonation.

Anyways idk if you have the capability of it now but that's something to look into if you ever get Medicare or whatever it is. Id do research though. My best friend also went to rehab and the one he went to he made sound like a prison. One I went to most of the staff where really friendly and we had plenty of freedom for the most part.

Just get a buzz rocking before going in to be more convincing. Almost everyone coming in for alcohol blew something on the breathalyzer. Even I did and I didn't drink before coming in like most people I just one hell of a night before.

Can't stay forever but it will be a month at the very least. Think they make the medicare people stay longer than the minimum time though.

It's the job of the police to make life as miserable as possible for the homeless. And capitalism requires homeless people so they can threaten people with how much worse off they could be if they fire them.

The library is closing that is where we charge all our things and this new prop goes into effect next month that makes any drug possession a felony they are trying to scare us and run us off

FUCK! me and my best bud were charging up at the park this morning I get paranoid and look around the corner and there are 4 fucking squad cars right on the other side of the building just fucking waiting for us.

Theyve been increasing their presence here at the park more and more especially since the high school is nearby and so many students walk through when school starts and ends. Things have been bad because some kids smoked some shit in front of one of the cameras they have here and the cops are stupid asses so they think the unhoused community is somehow involved

we went straight back away from the building across a field so they couldnt see us until we were already on the sidewalk outside of the park

we went and visited a couple of my friends right around the corner that stay behind a church bush, and over the wall you can see into the park there were two patrol motorcycles showing up and when I left there were two more arriving

i I think they are trying to pick us all up in one day. They are dramatically underestimating us.

I don't understand the impetus behind police harassing the homeless... policing is a wealth extraction system and there's nothing to gain squeezing dead shriveled grapes.

I don't think they'll 'pick you all up' but I get the concern. Police run homeless out of parks constantly, shuffling them from one location to another. It's so stupid. Are there any other green spaces that are still close to amenities where you could stay a bit more hidden? Maybe with a bit of forest or something?

I had to go to the other side of town for counseling and they are all over the place over there two. Pretty sure I was followed as well, wouldnt surprise me they know all the downtown homeless by name

I go to one of my churches later to shower Im gonna see if theyll let me volunteer and maybe let me sleep on the church grounds a couple nights a week

A cop can be a decent human being, honestly trying to help others. Just like I'm a grocery and decent human being honestly trying to help others.

I don't inherently distrust police officers - I'd observe the same thing with a doctor, nurse, teacher, etc. Plus this isn't really a trust thing. It may represent a conflict of interest, it may introduce legal ramifications if something goes wrong, it doesn't 'help' the individual in the long-haul...I'm not going so far as to say that it's inherently evil or bad, I'm just saying that it's not necessarily 'help'. Or it could be help, but misguided, or irresponsible. I'm saying this as someone who has let a homeless man sleep in my basement that I met through a restaurant I worked at. That was about 10 years ago.

There are decent cops, but none of them would even consider offering to let a homeless woman whose arrest they played a role in a chance to live with them after that person got out of jail. Even if their intentions are pure, the implication is still there that the cop is expecting sex and that there may be consequences if she refuses. That power dynamic just is not healthy, which is why not a single police office would publicly support an officer doing that (though plenty would sweep it under the rug if it happened). It crosses professional boundaries in a way that simply is not appropriate.

Past that, though, I don't think a single person other than you read Mead's account of what happened and didn't immediately think "the cop wants to sleep with her." It's blatantly obvious that that was the case. Believing otherwise is quite hopelessly naive. In turn, the assumption is that when you're suggesting that Mead find a cop to go home with, you're suggesting that Mead should find a cop who's willing to trade housing and leniency for sexual favours. That's... not particularly cool.

Not a cop but my best friend got out of homelessness due to his ability to woo girls even despite being homeless.

Kinda wild hooked up with a college girl eventually got busted for sleeping in her dorm room so girl talks a friend into letting her crash in her couch and he gets that chick knocked up. They only recently broke up and that was like 10 years ago. Girls father hooked him up with a job and everything.
