I say every kid deserves to see their own Toy Story movie in the theatres that they were not yet born to see the previous one.

When they stop being good, which hasn't happened yet.

Sequels are a hard sell for me in general, so honestly it should have been a one-shot.

Though 3 ended up being a great film despite being a sequel. 2 and 4, I could take or leave tbh.

Feels like they should have abandoned continuity and just had each one be its own thing.

We are lucky 3 didn't suck. Pixar almost didn't make 3. It was almost going to be a direct to video quality film.

I cry at the end of Toy Story 4 lol it's the only one I cry on....I may have cried at the end of 3

I never thought about it but yeah it would be pretty cool if they just used it as a theme to tell new stories every now and then.

I do think with 4 being the end of Woody's story it would have been a good stopping point so I dunno what they'll be doing with 5. I never get the people mad about 4 though. I mean I guess 3 was an ending to the hugely important character of Andy and his like 10 minutes of total screen time through the series...

3 is considered the best of them because of how emotional it is. But really 1 through 3 are just phenomenal. 4 is simply good.

No, no, you're missing the point. It's not about whether you care about Andy. It's about whether Woody cares about Andy. The ending is pretty much The Giving Tree.

3 was the perfect ending to any franchise
4 is a good movie, but I wish that it either didn't happen or used a new lineup of toys.

But I feel like there's not a lot of importance placed on Andy as a character really. Yeah both 1 and 2 (and 3) are about trying to get back to him but not because it's Andy. Just because Woody's a toy and he's got to go back to his kid. 4 is also about that but with Bonnie instead and the core doesn't feel too different. So I feel like the emotional hook of 3 (after the incinerator scene) just doesn't work as well really because the movies never really gave us that much bonding time with Andy after the montage in 1.

2/3rd of the way through 3 was the perfect end point.
4 was good, though.
I fell asleep during Light-year.

I haven't seen 4, but I thought that 3 made a good stopping point since it marked when they stopped being Andy's toys, therefore resolving their original purpose.

4 was a nice epilogue.

If you think of Woody almost like a parental figure, 4 is about him finding a new purpose in life after he leaves.

It kinda sneaks up on you out nowhere right at the end that that's what it was about (or maybe I'm just dumb and didn't notice) though.

Probably after three and then just stuck with animated shorts and TV specials. Toy Story 4 was quite mediocre (the first three are fantastic).

I agree with the other poster. Andys story was done, but not Woodys story. 4 focused on his story.

no idea how it blew up into a franchise, but I was also an adult when I first watched them so maybe I couldnt look past the bland plot and two-faced lead characters as easily

Also an adult when the first came out. Well, 18. I really dislike when people act like they are too mature for things. They are great films. Period.

4 is a good movie but I don't think it was needed.

I wonder if 5 can keep up with the franchise.

3 was the perfect ending for it.

I feel like 2 became needless fast; 3 can't escape that it was a short-form story expanded.
I quite like 4 because it has more adult'ish humour, & yet that's not the soul of this franchise.

I think they should try jumping ahead 50yrs, predicting toys of the future, digital or not.
