It really doesn't matter what I do. Even if I get a job, my environment is extremely toxic and draining for various reasons. I'm at my lowest, and I can't function anymore. I can't escape from where I am, I don't even have any family that can take me in. If I had a job I could maybe possibly get somewhere, but as much as food costs I have my doubts about that too.

Every day is dreadful; every single one. Gaming isn't helping take my mind off anything, nothing is helping. I've endured 4 years of this and it hasn't gotten any better. When is the switch finally going to flip? People tell you better times are ahead but that's not always true. I don't believe there's a reasonable way out of every situation.

I need serious help, to the point where I'm afraid if things don't change very soon, my brother might actually off himself (he lives with me, for those who don't know). I don't even feel like this is reality, but some kind of inherent nightmare that I'm constantly living. And I really can't do anything about it, because I have *nothing*.

I guess I just give up and let life win at this point? =/

Tldr: I moved in with my girlfriend in February 2020. We started dating that September. Brother lives with us, is highly autistic and low functioning, and he's so scripted he flies off the handle over pretty much everything. And my girlfriend is not a fan of him which causes extra tension. There's a lot more to it than that but that's the gist. My brother can't work and I can't find a job anywhere, and I'm basically living off of money from friends.

I talked to my psychiatrist yesterday morning. She wants me back in a month and wants me to see my therapist the same day. I don't know what they can do though, I need answers and solutions and I can no longer wait on them. I've almost completely checked out mentally.

Call 211. Tell them you need food.

i don't know the full backstory and i don't want to give bad advice, but i agree with fake vegy here in the sense that you should probably ask for assistance and you don't need to take care of everything yourself when it's not even really your responsibility to care about.

as far as your brother goes, can't he be put into a group home for autistic adults, that the state takes care of?

my older sister is autistic and non-verbal, and has been living in homes like that for her adult life, and she seems to enjoy it.

He's undiagnosed and he's attached at my hip. It's never going to happen

Yeah. They've helped us out a few times.

See if you can connect with some NPO's in the area that might help people in your situation. They might have an in to get your brother properly assessed and you can start getting the assistance your family deserves.

I think that is your best opportunity to get into a better situation. Both you and your brother deserve to be in living situations that make sense for what is happening in your lives and him getting assessed and ideally put into supported living will help everyone.
