Honestly even on gamefaqs which skews older I'm reminded almost daily here how much younger most people are. Sure people my age exist, and there are even older people than me but the largest chunk still left are in their 30's and they talk about shit when they were kids when I was already into my 20's.

I mean I was in junior high when we were all gaming on the peak years of the NES in the late 80's. We were already veteran console gamers by that point. Atari/IntelliVision/ColecoVision were all played heavily before we moved to NES.

Y2K is almost 25 years old.

Ps2/GCN gen was my first that I actually owned a system. I played n64/ps1 at my friends houses but I was never allowed to own video games until I was 10.

PS2 games were made until, 2008 or later?

And just because someone is born after a console comes out doesn't mean it won't be what they grew up with. Not everyone gets the newest things as kids.

There's a difference between being PS2 old and NES old.

Been watching this youtuber review Megaman games and bro sounded cool and knowledgeable covering the NES classic.

Then he goes on to say he was basically 10 in 2013. My 40 yo ass is having trouble digesting this shit.

I'm more bothered by NakeyJakey being a year or two younger than me and and also more funny than I am.

I mean yeah, that's pretty old if you're talking to actual kids lol. The PS4 was the current console when my son was born. The PS2 is ancient as far as he's concerned.

Oh, yeah? I started with the Atari 8 bit computer, though in all fairness it was near the end of the Atari 8 bit computer's life and I was only 4 years old (I mostly played Mrs PacMan and Kinderkomp)
... No wait, I started when I was 3 1/2. I think my dad sometimes let me play with the Dos Boot screen at that age, as well. Betting I sometimes pressed a key while he was typing up his bills. In fact, I think I might very, VERY vaguely remember such a thing + his reaction.
Betting I also tried to scribble on the keyboard with a crayon at one point, just like I did everything else (somehow including my mattress. It was one of those with a plastic coating for young children and incontinent elderly.)

I still remember playing Space Invaders 2 on a tabletop arcade back in 1980.

PS2 as a first console is still better than when someone in r/TOMT is like "anyone remember this Flash game from my childhood i played it like in 2016"

One thing I've noticed with kids growing up with later consoles, is that they seem to forget that their parents/elders have grown up with this stuff and can play it better than they can.

One of my mates has a pre-teen kid and he was complaining about how he couldn't win a race on Forza. I went over, turned ALL OF THE ASSISTS off, and blitzed it with 6 seconds to spare. He was aghast, asked how I did it, and I just replied "I was playing this since before you were born".

He asked me to race for him in his little friend group and I beat them all, easily.

Another youngster I know started playing Skyrim as her first foray into TES. Of course, when I asked to have a go, I was fus ro dah'ing everything and eating dragon souls all day. She asked how? I told her the sad truth. I bought Skyrim the day it was released. In 2011. She would have been 2 years old when it was released.

I was having a chat with a mate earlier and he said he does the same thing. His kids are getting into Worms, and that's the one game I'm actually decent at. I remember wiping the floor with my mates at Worms, and my mate asked me to give him some tips. The ninja rope skills were the most appreciated. His kids now think he's a god-tier gamer because whatever they do, he can rope around them and drop a dynamite on their head.

Kids these days are going to experience some brutal realism when they realise their parents grew up with games too, and are far more experienced than they are in anything that needs more attention than fortnight shite.
