J/w how other people have found the motivation to continue after reaching this conclusion.

My job is meaningless. Helpless to do anything to combat the coming implosion of democracy and severe degradation of human rights.

You don't need to save democracy and restore human rights to the world for your life to have meaning.

I am here for my kids and my wife and my own enjoyment

My life is pointless in that what I do wont matter to humanity, but that doesnt matter to me. Id rather just enjoy my life

I just drown myself in video games, anime, tv, youtube, etc. My motto is: Life sucks and then you die. So glad I don't have to work for a living (yet).

I've never really had anything to live for. It's just how it's always been. Life goes on and I'm just here.

Because fixing all of that isn't my goal in life. I just want my family and I to live comfortably.

You get good at taking what you can get and having a sense of humor about the absurdity of it all. You also fight for what you believe in because it is the right thing to do, not because you will necessarily win.

I remember this being phrased rather well on the show Angel, "If nothing we do matters, than all that matters is what we do."

I made my peace with life being pointless a long time ago

The idea that my life doesn't have a pre-determined purpose is quite comforting.

If I was destined to invent something or cure a disease, I wouldn't be able to spend all my free time playing bass guitar and castlevania games.

I settled in to the peace of mind that comes with the knowledge of ultimate insignificance a long time ago. Now I'm just plagued with the idea that I've not lived up to my potential as far as personal accomplishment goes.

I do things to help other people. Life itself might be "pointless" but from moment to moment you can make those lives better.

I spent my youth trying to find the value and importance of my life.. and little by little, Im finding that value and importance..

but meaning? It just seems like its one of those enigmatic things like outer space.. perhaps it functions as a kind of outer space for our minds.. completely infinite and incalculable for us

Take it as you will. Your job is probably more instrumental than you know, man. Its probably what allows me to be a teacher because someone else is taking care of a need elsewhere that produces something for society. Everyone is in tandem with eachother.

Human rights are even more meaningful than the job sector. Thus there are more lines you can draw to extrapolate meaning from life. Thats not a cop out. Thats really how it is. The small, little interaction. The things we take for granted.

If everyone did life right, wed be a kind of monk bowing at the grace of someones presence alone.

to really answer your question, I contend with it by trying to solidify myself and phase myself out as much as I can in order to find meaning.. because if life was just me, thered be no meaning,

but there are others around me.. strangers included

There's a lot of people in my life who like me, and I like them. I enjoy the hobbies I have. That's how life has always been for everyone since the beginning.

Who cares if life has meaning? I am alive so I am going to enjoy it however I want.

A human life is generally pointless in the grand scheme of the world. Unless you find cures or innovate tech, we are all just consumers of everything. Parasites even. The only thing that matters is legacy. Through your actions or through your spawn do you leave a mark.

Don't worry about a war not on our land. We're funding so it stays overseas.

Don't worry about "the imploding democracy". First that's a gross embellishment. Second...if you're definition of losing democracy is that the GOP is there, I'd rather lose it than the socialism we were heading to under the Dems.

Bottom line...you'll be fine. Keep plugging away and find that reason.

Do what you enjoy doing on your free time. Make life worthwhile. It's what you make of it

Everything, even the stuff that you think has a point, is ultimately pointless. You may as well just do whatever helps you have fun or amuse yourself somehow.
