Basically that people are subconsciously aware of upcoming events somehow and it affects speech patterns without people being aware of it. The model used scrapes for changes in trends among words or searches used online to measure that subconscious effect and uses those to build predictions. It would be less about you specifically getting the thought of a car crash and more like 60% of the people you know getting a thought about over the course of the previous week. Then how many would vocalize the thought, how many might make a search online, how many might just let the thought go? Even if the model had some correct predictions before, I wouldn't put the word "exact" in even the same ballpark.
