The killer just randomly attacked a guy he didn't even know, on a golf course. Stole the victim's golf club and killed him with it, then took off all his clothes and walked away till he was found and arrested. Sad thing is there were other people around and nobody tried to help. Everyone just stood around and watched. They could have all attacked him with their clubs

unfortunately, the Bystander Effect is strong.

if one person did something to help, others would have likely joined in.

Isn't it supposed to be against the law not to report illegal activity?

I really dont understand humanity, how can someone just stand there and watch?

I can understand getting the hell out of there out of fear the attacker will go after you next, but to just stand there and watch as someone beats another human being to death is just fucked up beyond my comprehension.

I would feel compelled to jump in, even if it meant risking my own wellbeing.

The Guilt on my conscience would be never ending and I would probably commit suicide if I just stood there and watched someone get beaten to death with a golf club.

I can say for a fact that I would not risk getting beaten to death with a golf club just to stop it from happening to some other guy. I'm not quite that confident in my self defense skills

Usually I'd say "yeah, bystander effect etc" but if I'm with more than 3 people and we all have multiple weapons at our disposal versus 1 dude with a single weapon that is pre-occupied? I like to think I'd have a few swings.

It wouldn't just be you. Imagine you are with like 10 other people. And every single person is armed with the same weapon the killer has. The killer would stand no chance

The thing is we live in a time where they'd turn it around on you and sue you for assault. "He attacked me while I was attacking someone else!"

Cops aren't even obligated to do anything about illegal activity; why should citizens be?
