What is unethical about Hunter Biden getting a pardon vs. the GOP witch hunt he faced?

This only emboldens GOP talking points, and doesn't really help anyone but him and Hunter so... could be argued that's not a great trade off.

The only sound criticism of Joe Biden regarding this pardon is his prior political malpractice

I mean that could potentially encapsulate a lot.

Joe Biden should not have unconditionally put a pardon for Hunter off the table.

That I agree with.

Please tell me the consequences. What're people gonna do, elect Trump even harder in time for January? This won't even be a blip on the radar a month later.

Be real here, Trump is going to just pardon who he wants anyway like he did the first time. There was no shitty Obama pardon to justify Stone, Arpaio, Manafort, D'Souza, Flynn, or that monster Gallagher

Seeing this guy flip out over Hunter's pardon sure is something.

I don't know why we even still pretend to play this game that the GOP are operating under rational or consistent principles, and if Dems/Biden act appropriately then they won't get mad. Reps will always pitch a fit at what Democrats. They might as well just start doing whatever the fuck they want if the backlash will be the same anyways. What's going to happen, they'll lose elections because they're not pure enough?

No surprise. Its a pretty low risk way to separate himself from Biden and start campaigning for 2028.

Im fine with the pardon, but Biden did it in the most politically inept way possible. It should have been part of a larger package of pardons or dropped on the last day so it wouldnt have been as big of a story.

Yeeeep. I'm sorry Dems aren't playing this stupid game of "let us maliciously prosecute your child and then cry foul when you take a step to end it after we nnounce our intent to use the DOJ to continue to persecute him"

The only thing Biden should have done different is drop full pardons for thousands of people, anyone who has ever at any time been named as a Trump enemy going all the way down to Rosie O'Donnell

Please for the love of Jebus stop pretending the GOP won't do whatever the fuck it wants regardless of what any Democrat does. I'm so fucking sick of Democrats have to be the party of perfect and there can't be a single screw up on anything but the GOP can do whatever and not get shit for it. It's fucking exhausting.

We'd need a constitutional amendment to amend the pardon power and there's pretty much no chance of that happening

Sadly no, Republicans and consecutive media are probably going to keep bringing this up for years to come. Every time Trump does something corrupt or even criminal they'll just bring this up as a false equivalency so they can easily deflect to it and avoid any accountability. And of course the "liberal" media will just go along with it like they always do.

I'm so sick of all the pearl clutching and fake outrage every time democrats show the least bit of impropriety.

I would say they're held to a double standard, but that implies that republicans are held to a standard.

If dems want to criticize this, fine. I think they are foolish to do so, but it's fine. What I don't accept is any Republican's criticism. They literally voted for a convicted felon and fucking rapist. They don't get to question the propriety of anyone.
They don't care. Their voters won't hold them accountable, and Fox News certainly won't.

If you mean the hardcore Trump supporters, they already believe Hunter is at the center of a giant Biden crime conspiracy. To them, this pardon is just evidence that all their unhinged conspiracy theories are true.

Thats a bold prediction. I'm bot as confident they won't use this against dems, as most of them backed Biden over the years.

Im not trying to justify trumps pardons. Trump is trump. I'm talking about how this is going to affect the optics of the democratic party; and Republicans have repeatedly used the dems tethers to Biden against them before.

If they polled harris voters on this right now, do you think they'd see support for the decision or criticism? That matters.

Trump has been used against Republicans before as ell. Until a month ago, Dems hadn't had a bad election night since 2016

Nothing funnier than trumpers continuing to honk about ethics while supporting the most unethical candidate in modern history, and perhaps ever.

But it's really disappointing to see people who should know better (e.g., Newsom) honk about ethics in ways that are useful to Republicans.

If so, that's stupid. One of the few groups of people that could conceivably care about this pardon then are people like me who are fed up with optics-driven bullshit.

Thrh still do, and running as if they don't is not going to beget any different results than what we got this year. Its a terrible strategy to flip the chess board which is why most people outside of this board are not going along with it.
You mean the result where the party that routinely disregards ethics and morals were handed the house, Senate, and presidency? Because from my perspective, Democrats sticking to decorum and respectability politics gets us jack fucking shit but a government stacked with conservatives in all 3 branches
