An Xbox fan has shared a harrowing story of how they were hit by a truck and dragged under it, and how the Xbox in his backpack helped prevent his head from pounding the pavement.

Brandon J on social media shared his scary story this week, recalling how he was riding his bike home from GameStop with a new Xbox Series S in his backpack. He was hit by a truck and ultimately pulled under it as the driver kept going. "The Xbox in my backpack prevented me from hitting my head or worse, even dying. I wasn't gonna get shredded beneath the truck so I used my left leg to attempt to slow the truck," Brandon wrote.

"At this point my bike wedged my right leg so I couldnt move it anywhere. Next thing I know my backpack was only hanging on by my left shoulder and was slammed into the curb along with me afterwards."

After this, Brandon said he felt the full weight of the front end of the truck begin to roll onto his ribs, going on to say he was dragged for about 12 feet. He was taken to the hospital and miraculously only had a single broken bone in his left foot, in addition to some road rash. Not only was Brandon mostly OK from the experience, but his Xbox didn't break either. He said it booted up normally and runs games despite the toll it took and the damage it sustained.

"If the Xbox wasnt in my bag at the time a lot more could have happened" he wrote. Brandon also shared a number of images to demonstrate the damage.

This story caught the attention of Microsoft, and marketing boss Aaron Greenberg said the Xbox team is sending Brandon a new console. "Rest up and be grateful for every day we have here together," Greenberg said. The official Xbox account also replied to Brandon, saying, "We're so glad that you're safe and hope the recovery is going well."

Is this about the urban legend of the guy who got his throat cut by his Xbox launching a disc out the drive at a lethally high rate of speed and RPMs?

Because if so, I hate to break it to you, but thats a newer incarnation of the urban legend that somebody got their throat cut by their desktop computers disc drive launching a CD-ROM out at a lethally high rate of speed and RPMs, and the Mythbusters proved that that wasnt physically able to happen.

The original XboX could have still worked after that.

They better at least upgrade him to an X series. Poor guy has suffered enough to just give him a new S series.

I also happened to get hit by a car (well more liked backed over by a car. Someone reversed on me) as a kid and let me tell you........its not very fun. Not fun at all. It hurts matter of fact (well you don't really notice it as its happening because adrenaline is going full speed, but goddamn I definitely remember that emergency room pain).

Yeah they are probably just going to give him a series X for that one. That series s is a friggin' trooper for actually still booting on and working.

Xbox really is the most pro-consumer console.

Ah, my bad. I think Im the only one who remembers that urban legend since a well known shit stirrer on the Xbox One board by the name of Quincy made such a big deal out of it, only for people to point out that it was a satire website article.
