Minor nerfs to Magik's damage but a buff to her ult charge requirement sounds decent. The demon being nerfed is fine because honestly that thing always felt like it did way too much damage. But for a good Magik that's a major part of her kit so IDK. It's crazy it did 80 dps before.

I know that Iron Fist is weak right now but I'm scared of these Iron Fist buffs.

Cloak and Dagger ult got wrecked though. 3400 to 4000 ult charge required, only lasts for 8 seconds instead of 10 and the healing does not stack from multiple lanes now.

The issue I take with this is that i feel like the demon needs to do significant damage to be worth anything. It's not exactly a precise attack and has extremely little range, the enemy basically needs to be standing still directly in front of it to actually take any of that damage

Not sure how legit these are but they got a trade-off of not being so easy to pick off mid-ult. It is a fair nerf and Luna/Mantis/Sue are eating it too.

Assuming these patch notes are legit Rocket is going to wind up in line for a nerf after this patch.

This is true but it's also very easy to drop into the middle of team fights or around corners on the tank.

I've always wondered if you find enjoyment in these games outside of playing as animal characters. I don't mean that as a dig but I remember you trying to make an animal deck work in Marvel Snap too and bouncing off that game. Does it matter how they play or are you just not interested in playing as any other characters?

I remember you were pretty skilled at Multiversus too so I've always wondered if you ever branch out.

There's so many games out there in the world that I've found a happy place in just focusing on ones where I can play as a character I really enjoy. It's a good entry point for me in jumping into a game that I would have never otherwise tried and there's a good chance I'll actually enjoy the game for its mechanics / whatnot as well.

If it's a game with tons of characters to choose from, I'll always just want to play as my favorites. I have no interest in playing as the others. In my mind, I think "Well why am I not just playing some other random game I might enjoy more then that also doesn't have a playable animal character."

In the case of Marvel Rivals, I'm already not that great at shooters so I need every little bit of help I can get, since I AM very competitive.

So if I'm playing my favorite character with a 43% winrate in a shooting game where I'm already not as good as I normally would be in any other kind of genre, it becomes quickly frustrating.

I am also someone who has to deal with their main or favorite character being bottom of the barrel so when I see another of my favorites being trash, it makes me very unlikely to stick with said game.

I REALLY love Rocket Raccoon and think he's great in Marvel Rivals.

Problem is that he has the complete exact opposite of a playstyle that I enjoy and find him immensely boring to play. I am someone who loves getting in the mix, doing a bunch of cool things and having a really strong / fun ultimate. So having an ult where's like "Hey, you guys are all a bunch stronger, woo!" is the exact opposite of what I'd want lol.

Rocket is literally everything I could ever want out of a hero shooter.

I just want Jeff to be good so team furry can be viable.

These patch notes are all just terribly safe changes that aren't hugely substantial I assume because they don't want to completely change the meta in the middle of the season. I expect a lot bigger changes will happen that fundamentally change a lot of characters at the end of the season.

But they address a lot of immediate problems like supports and their ults, but I expect a lot more support changes later.

Yeah just minor obvious changes here. The game was too slow with healer ults outpacing everyone else. This will allow for more aggression and interesting pushes rather than constantly having to play chicken with heal ults that are always up.

Assuming these patch notes are legit, my big winners of the patch are Psylocke and Rocket.

Will be curious if this holds true.

Thing and Human Torch launch this week too so maybe they didnt mix things up too much because of adding 2 new heroes?

Also they need to kick people from matches for being idle if they just sit in the goddamn spawn moving back/forth the whole match. Cannot believe they dont have anything in place for that yet

Streamers will be showing off Human Torch and Thing early gameplay today. There might already be some out there but I'm not finding it.

I really hope Thing is good and fun. I need another Vanguard to be halfway decent at that isnt Peni, Hulk or Strange

Yeah same here, I've always been a tank player but a lot of the vanguards haven't clicked with me

Like Hulk is fun, but he never seems great

Magneto is pretty good but he's not a ton of fun to play

Peni is probably the best mix I've seen but largely depends on getting a good spot to set up wish I don't really love all the time because I've always been a big "stay on the fucking point" kinda tank

Thor is always my vanguard of choice, but I just love playing him as area denial and utility more, which I think a lot of Thor players don't use him for. It's super fun to bully the hell out of people with Thor. Just knocking them away from the point. He's great at pushing when he has support. Despite his ult being the worst in the game, it applies pressure and splits the team if used right and people can use it to pick them off.

I've tried other tanks, and guys like Strange obviously feel great because he's very easily the best tank in the game because he has an awesome shield and does an absurd amount of damage and has a completely game changing ult. Strange obviously needs more changes to bring him in line with the rest.

I will say that I'm hoping The Thing is great too because I want another off tank as well that I enjoy playing.

Game is out and done with. They don't matter anymore. Now a small crew can take over for maintenance and content churn out for way less money. NetEase finally showing it's true colors, as people expected prior to release.

Okay. Good to know it wasn't the main team, but still shitty regardless.

Not to be a corporate boot licker or anything, but wouldn't it make sense that they didn't have as much to work on after the release of the game if they were a secondary team helping the game launch? It seems like wishful thinking that they had a job in perpetuity, regardless of the success.

Costs for US employees are also higher than Chinese so if they were gonna cut anyone, this is the most sensible.

That said, the game is making obscene amounts of money, AND I've heard this team played a sort of unofficial role as liason to Disney, so it still seems like a really stupid money-grubbing move

This is just reality for live service games. You are never going to be as profitable as you were at launch so they start cutting whatever they can.

I'm actually more shocked that Rocket wasn't touched than Jeff getting nothing.

Having an ult that can take the entire enemy team off of a point in overtime is still very difficult to deal with

He's literally 43% winrate in Competitive. Over half the cast have abilities that can avoid Jeff's ult. He's statistically terrible.

Rocket is fantastic. Not gonna argue with that. I just find him incredibly boring to play.

I was continually picking up bans in ranked for showing Rocket because my team wanted defensive ults only. Community still wont believe it.

No Jeffs. There are a few Jeff's but the skillgap is incredibly high on the top Jeffs and average Jeffs. And he requires a team knowing you need to 3 heal with Jeff.

And bringing 3 heals creates its own problems(Meta is absolutely going back to 2 heals if these patch notes are real).

Okay, we have some more details about the layoffs. The team started working on Rivals in 2023, they were based in Seattle, and all 6 members were laid off.

Wild how fast misinformation can spread that people are legit typing up entire essays in places like Reddit over how scummy it is that the entire creative team behind Marvel Rivals was fired when it was a support studio of six people completely unrelated to the main development team. Seems like people don't even realize this is a Chinese game when they're thinking a dude named Thaddeus based in Seattle was the creative head of the entire game.

Like don't get me wrong it sucks that anyone is fired in the wake of success on the order that this game has been enjoying, but people clearly just love any excuse to hammer out thousands of words on their favorite narratives.

Human Torch and Storm Ult combo is a level of visual clutter that is definitely too much for a type of this game. And that's saying something compared to the normal level of visual clutter.

I played Human Torch a few times and could not get him to work for me. But then I'd go against some enemies absolutely dominating the whole lobby. So IDK about him.

The thing is pretty cool as a vanguard main but I don't quite get him yet. I need to watch some pros play him. I only tried human torch once but he's cool. I'm not sure if he's better than Storm in the flying DPS category but he's at least fun

I think that Thing's niche will be his charge stopping movement abilities. Being able to actually dive on supports like Invis Woman or Rocket without them jumping away is pretty huge

Thing is cool, but feels like hes got a lot of downsides compared to the other Vanguards in ways too sadly. He has absolutely no means on his own of doing anything to anyone who can fly, attack/escape to high ground easily or attack from long ranges safely. Hes a chonky brawler, but I feel like he can be pretty easily countered with swaps so well see how he does. Human Torch I have a feeling will be quite good. Probably above wherever Storm & Iron Man are at tier wise?
