Amazon founder Jeff Bezos spoke optimistically of President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday at The New York Times DealBook Summit, saying he expects a more friendly regulatory environment in the upcoming administration.

Im actually very optimistic this time around, Bezos said on stage. He seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation. If I can help do that, Im going to help him.

I guess Elon needs help dismantling the regulations that protect us.

I think its going to start happening more and more and there will be a push to ban guns by the president.

Honestly, a bigger issue we have to fight is most people like and admire billionaires. America has a deep Protestant work ethic where the message is success is a result of work

1) poor people can only be poor due to their personal fuckups and therefore deserve their fate

2) billionaires got that rich entirely due to their own merit, and are demigods (or better) that lesser people should just worship and obey.

This shit is the core of the longest-running and most effective propaganda campaign the world has ever seen.

It's been going on for centuries, too in different flavors. We're not close to any sort of uprising because evidence just keeps showing Americans love rich people and want to be them. Thankfully, "Poor people deserve their pain" isn't a majority view.
There's some cushion against poor people getting fucked over because most people experience setbacks. The US budget is basically a nursing home with a military.

Yep, union busting will pretty much be legal. They don't really even have to change the law, just defund the NLRB so they have no ability to enforce the law.

Yep, so many of the rules we have in place that people find inconvenient are there for a reason. But over time people forget or they think the bad things they read about in history can't happen to them. So maybe history's going to repeat and we as a nation will have to learn the same lessons over again.
