Looks cool but I hate when brands plaster their logos on the front of their products. I get its for ad purposes but it comes across as pretentious to me.

That and the made in Germany on front isnt helping either.

I could try and give sensible advice, but I know that if I were in your shoes, that watch would be on my wrist.

That is a badass brand and I like that German style of watches but that one doesn't do too much for me. I'm sure you could find a less expensive one that gives off similar vibes.

I live in Germany, not far from the town on the front, so I guess the regional pride is a factor

Meh, you have a watch on your phone. I wouldnt spend money like that on a watch if I had serious budgetary concerns about doing so. Plus watches arent that cool to me.

Im EXTREMELY frugal with my own money to the point its almost unhealthy of me. I save 75 to 80% of my monthly check and in all of 2023 I only spent $75 outside required monthly household bills.

However I have no issues at all giving advice to others to go ahead and spend their money. Haha. I mean you said its 2/3rds a monthly salary. Its just one month, not a yearly salary. Just one month is no big deal. Go for it. Live a little and enjoy yourself.

If you like it TC I say go for it. I bought myself a Breitling a month before my daughter was born a couple years ago as a sort of "Dad" watch. Live a little.

Speaking realistically, I probably won't buy the watch. I need to buy furniture for my almost-empty living room, as well as hopefully a plane ticket to my grandparents in Pakistan, which are much more higher priority

I found out I'm getting a performance bonus at work a few days ago, and the plan was to take some of that money and spend it on a watch as a reward for myself, but that would be closer to 200 than 2000. So no Glashtte watch for me. But it's fun to imagine, I guess

I get it, TC. I have some expensive watches, myself. My advice would be to save up the money. It'll feel good when you can finally afford it!

As an American, I appreciate the Made in Germany just because it means it's not some American-made piece of shit.

Like, honestly, Made in China is a better sign these days than Made in USA.

Bespoke and intricate movements, premium materials, rarity of the timepiece and frankly the history of the watchmaker. I like knowing that the watch I'm wearing was made by folks who have been doing it for almost 150 years.

This is one reason why the logo is necessary. A lot of Facebook brands have similar looking watches but aren't that great in quality- like a Daniel Wellington or MVMT(sorry, not trying to take anybody down).

But the Nomos is a very desirable brand with a lot of history behind it.

If you have the spare money, they're fantastic watches. I used to repair watches, so I've seen most of the brands over the years. Only ever saw one Nomos, but it was a fantastic piece. The styling isn't for me, but was insanely well made. Also gets some points just for being something out of the ordinary.

I wouldn't touch Skagen and MVMT with a barge pole. MVMT has bad build quality and Skagens are super fragile in my experience. Swatches are nice cheap watches, but it won't scratch the itch for something like a Nomos.
