But the answer was in front of me the whole time...a massage! I found a reputable place and booked an appointment. When I got there my nerves were acting up, but once the massage was underway, it was like I was floating in the clouds. I no longer felt like a husk of a person. I actually felt alive for the first time in forever. I finally understood what relaxation felt like. My mind was finally free of thought. I could only focus on the massage itself. I'm not even being hyperbolic. It really was a life-changing moment. I did more research after the fact and learned about cortisol levels. Mine were probably through the roof because of all the depression, constant stress and anxiety. But massages apparently lower it. I feel like a car with a fresh oil change. It's actually reassuring to know that I can just book another one whenever I want. I really should have tried this sooner...
