Who tf thinks its ok to text another coworker that late? It wasnt even anything important. He asked me for an ETA.

For some people texting isn't a big deal and they don't expect you to read and/or reply at the same time as when they sent it

Texting isnt weird, but I find contacting your coworker after hours for work related things to be annoying regardless of the method.

My roommate is the primary opener. The store manager somehow finds it appropriate to text at 10pm or later. She starts work at 4am.

I have coworkers in many time zones. They can email/message/text me whenever is convenient for them, but I won't respond until my day starts.

What's the problem here? You can just ignore it, and evidentially did

your phone should have multiple volume settings.
you can mute notifications while keeping the ringer full volume.

Simple, just don't respond until the work day. It's the same as if you get a work email after hours, just don't look at it.

If you're in the service industry, retail, or even working at a hospital or something then you likely don't have any coworkers' email address.

My coworker loves bothering people when they're asleep. Like, he actually gets a kick out of it. I'm pretty sure it's a power thing, as he feels everyone should be made available to him at all times, available to work on short notice, and should drop everything for him. He's told me before that he doesn't care what time it is, if he needs something he's going to get us up. Told me that I have to as well "You call them, and keep calling until they answer. It doesn't matter what time it is, or if it can wait. You wake them up and deal with it."

He will call at any time he feels like, 3-4 am? If he wants to talk, yeah, he will. Even over trivial stuff that doesn't even matter. Thankfully it's not too common, but it happens regularly enough. So, if I need anything, I call him and wake him up. I won't bother the other coworkers unless it's an emergency. But I will him just because he seems to think it's ok. Thankfully, I live right next to deadline. Everyone loses signal here, and at my house there's only certain places where you can talk, and he knows this. He's driven by my house to check if there's any signal loss, and guess what, he lost signal. lol
So he doesn't get too angry if I miss his call.

Mom has friends that do it too, messaging all night long, knowing she has work the next day. I don't understand it either.

You know youre allowed to not answer, right?

If it woke you up or something, might be time to start utilizing DND.
